Brown discharge. Period prob?

At the end of my period, I started getting brownish discharge on and off. What’s going on?

Read this article for info about the hymen, which is the technical term for the slang word you used in your first question! And I don't think this is something you should confirm with Jay - it's their business and she trusted you enough to confide in you, so you shouldn't go around discussing it. If you want more info, ask her about it. Sex in a sensitive thing to discuss so understand that she might be tight-lipped about a lot of the details, but try not to doubt her or judge her. Be there to support her and listen if she needs it!

I know this is going to sound really weird and probably stupid, but i've been have issuses with my period and i want to do something about it, but i'm afraid to go to the gynecologist. what do i do?




Well, sweetie, I can't tell you what to do without knowing much about your problem.  It sounds like something to check out with a doctor.  Or if that worries you, sit down with your mom and tell her what's going on.  I'm sure she can help!

Hey. Well im 13 and i've never had a period before but i do have strong discharge. Its kinda yellowish and it smells fishy. I think there's something wrong but i can't just go to my mom and be like, "hey theres an issue!" We aren't close and I'd be WAY too embarrassed to try and tell her. What should I do?




I think your mom would be the best person to tell. It may be awkward but it will bring you two closer I bet. Also you can tell your doctor about it and I'm sure theyll be able to help. xoxo kerra

MOD MOD MOD ! i Just got my period and the bad thing is i was at camp! Frown when i started it got really heavy and i would never stop bleeding , i started on Tuesday then it ended on Saturday, Is 5 days normal or should i be getting it for 7 days? and my second question is i hate using pads cause they make me feel icky and yucky even when i change them i just dont like the feeling so i wanna wear tampons but i dont know how to put one on and im scared to get toxic shock thing?? So what do i do?

 

Hey girl,

Toxic Shock Syndrome is super rare and is really only connected to old "big" tampons - just make sure you change your tampons regularly, use the most appropriate size for your flow, and don't leave them in for longer than 8 hours. And yes, don't worry - anywhere from 3-8 days for a period is totally normal Smile

Hey girl, don't sweat it! Many period are irregular, and can come at any time, so if you aren't right "on schedule" thats completely normal.

MODMODMOD Ok so i got my period today right but its kinda brownish what is it. is it like bad but please help and also like theres no blood just brown i know this sound gross also it not that much like its not as much as other times i got it

Hey babes,

It's not bad! The brown is blood, but it's just a different level of flow (it's lighter and it has probably dried a bit - I know, totally gross). Usually my period starts off brown, then gets red, then goes back to brown again before it goes away. It's like discharge combined with a period...and it's completely normal!! And remember that periods are almost always irregular when we first get them. Even after a year or two, they can be kinda unpredictable! Just hang in there and stay prepared with a pad in your bag when you think you're due for it Smile

this happens to me sometimes... i got my period for the first time in july 2010, it was pretty normal until this past july. i had my period for about a week in july 2011, which is normally how long mine is. then, two weeks later, this august i got it again, and now, a week after my period finished, it seems as if its on its way again with some light brown discharge. im so confused, is this normal? or is it just endometrial tissues, mentioned in this article?




Hey sweetie,

Especially when you're young, periods can be pretty irregular. You might have two one month and none the next! While most of the time this is pretty normal, if you're worried, or this continues, see a doctor. They can tell you for sure whether it's something to worry about, or no biggie.

i have like...a LOT of discharge all the time. I get my period every 20 days or so, but is that normal...? like, it looks normal and evrything, but theres just a lot of discharge...




Hey girl!

I would say it's pretty typical to have a lot of discharge for the first few months that you have your period. But if you've had it for awhile, I'd make an appointment with your doctor to see what's up.
