Brown discharge. Period prob?

At the end of my period, I started getting brownish discharge on and off. What’s going on?

If the discharge has a foul or fishy smell, then you should definitely tell a doctor - that could be a sign of an infection.

It sounds like you're having a tricky health issue, so the best thing you can do is tell your grandma. You shouldn't have any reason to be afraid when it comes to your health! She'll be able to make you a doctor's appointment and they can tell you what's up. If you're still too nervous, try telling your mom on the weekend. She may be able to help you out, too. Good luck!

Yesterday,I've got my first period.Actually, I was so happy.But, the worst thing is,we have to change the pads at all times.I've got my first period when I was going to take a bath before going to the school.Then, I felt something weird down there.It was bloody things.I told my mom, she said,"It is your first period." I was so shock!You know what, I am twelve years old.And, my weight is 33.5 kg and my height is 145 cm.Yeah, period is not based on our body size, but it is by our hormon. Smile

This totally sounds like your period! Your doc tried to give you a time estimate, which is super helpful, but the truth is that no one can predict exactly when you'll get your first period. Even a professional! So try to put what your doctor said behind you and get prepared for your first period. It might not get any heavier this month, but I would expect it next month for sure. (And obviously, because we can't accurately predict it, I could be wrong...but it's always better to be prepared!)

I really wanna try tampons, but I don't know how to tell my mom(She has never tried a tampon so she doesn't really even think about them as an option)I've always told her pretty much everything about this type of stuff I just don't know how to talk to her about this. Hey chica! I'd be honest and let your mom know that you want to try them. Give her your reasons and ask if you can pick up a box the time you're shopping. She should understand. And if she doesn't, then you can always borrow one from the school nurse, or a friend, to try!

And I don't think this is something you should confirm with Jay - it's their business and she trusted you enough to confide in you, so you shouldn't go around discussing it. I think there's something wrong but i can't just go to my mom and be like, "hey theres an issue!" We aren't close and I'd be WAY too embarrassed to try and tell her. What should I do?

Toxic Shock Syndrome is super rare and is really only connected to old "big" tampons - just make sure you change your tampons regularly, use the most appropriate size for your flow, and don't leave them in for longer than 8 hours. And yes, don't worry - anywhere from 3-8 days for a period is totally normal Smile

It's not bad! The brown is blood, but it's just a different level of flow (it's lighter and it has probably dried a bit - I know, totally gross). Usually my period starts off brown, then gets red, then goes back to brown again before it goes away. It's like discharge combined with a period...and it's completely normal!! And remember that periods are almost always irregular when we first get them. Even after a year or two, they can be kinda unpredictable! Just hang in there and stay prepared with a pad in your bag when you think you're due for it Smile

this happens to me sometimes... i got my period for the first time in july 2010, it was pretty normal until this past july. i had my period for about a week in july 2011, which is normally how long mine is. then, two weeks later, this august i got it again, and now, a week after my period finished, it seems as if its on its way again with some light brown discharge. im so confused, is this normal? or is it just endometrial tissues, mentioned in this article?

Especially when you're young, periods can be pretty irregular. You might have two one month and none the next! While most of the time this is pretty normal, if you're worried, or this continues, see a doctor. They can tell you for sure whether it's something to worry about, or no biggie.

I would say it's pretty typical to have a lot of discharge for the first few months that you have your period. But if you've had it for awhile, I'd make an appointment with your doctor to see what's up.

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going on holiday in 3 days, and it's right about the time of my period, but I haven't started yet, I'm soo scared of starting on holiday, or having it on holiday! Because I usually wake up with it there, and I'de be soo embarrassed if it got on the sheets! Also, I'm going with my parents and my nephew, and my nephews like, 14! And we go swimming a lot on holiday! I can insert tampons but I'de be soo paranoid about it, say if the string came out and you could see it or something! Bad News: You can't control when your period comes. That said, it shouldn't stop you from having a good time on your holiday. Let your Mom know, and she can cover for you or carry around extra tampons in her purse. As for knowing when it arrives, unless you can feel it, there won't be anyway to know but to check. If you know it'll arrive a certain day, wear a panty liner or a light pad so you won't be caught totally off guard.

Last night I was feeling very nauseated and my stomach was very uncomfortable, I didn't have an appetite, and I was super tired at 7 even though I usually get tired at 11. When I woke up today I found this clear sticky discharge with some brown clumps in it. Is that a period? There was like, 3 clumps about the size of an eraser at the end of a pencil. Thankss!

 

 

Hey girl. PMS is something that happens for little while before your period, so having for a year isn't totally possible. You may have had similar symptoms though. It sounds like your period could be starting up. Wait a day or so and if it doesn't develop into a regular flow go see a doc. Smile

Ok so I have an older sister, but there is a 17 year age difference between us. We are close and she knows I have my period, but I always feel awkward about it with her. I didn't tell her myself when I first got it, and I think the only way she knows is because my mom said something to her. I had to stay with her (she is married with 2 kids) for a long weekend because my parents were out of town. I thought I was going to have my period then, and I was really nervous about it. It ended up coming early that month, so I didn't have it, but it kinda bothered me that I was that nervous. I know she has hers, but I just felt scared to tell her and I don't know why. Please help me be more open about this with her so I can explain why I'm moody and if I don't feel good! Thanks

Hey girlie, I really doubt that being in the pool would have any effect on this. You're probably not  pregnant! See a doctor to find out what the deal is. Any changes in your eating and exercise habits, or just puberty, could be responsible for the weight gain.

MODMOD so i got my period and my mom said i cant use tampons for a while but what happens if i am invited to go somewhere with a pool? and i was wonering if i was going to grow more than 2 more inches because im only 4-10 1/2 and i want to be at least 5'2" before i stop growing. is there a possibilitly to grow more? and i think pads are ok-ish like i suppose theyre fine but i think i would like tampons better and i hate taking showers when i am on it because i feel discusting and wet can i fix that? sorry its so long-thanks Smile




Tampons are the only way to go in the pool, so you should talk to your mom about compromising. As far as growing, it all depends on your genetics how tall you'll be. Only your doctor can give you an estimate on growth.

Hey girl, sometimes you can have spotting or lighter periods. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it continues to do that for the next couple months. Then talk to your doc. For now, give your mom a heads up and just take care of yourself.

MOD MOD MOD I haven't gotten my period yet but I have had discharge for 2 years and my breasts have already started developing. Lately I have had an overload of discharge along with cramps. The cramps are sorta like a stabbing pain leaning towards more of my left side. Now, I can feel my discharge even dripping, I also NEVER get headaches and now I keep getting them. Are these signs my period is coming soon and how soon? P.S. I also have had spotting. Thanks!

If you catch yourself being too emotional or mean, try to go to the bathroom or into another room just to calm yourself down. You could also skip hanging out with them for those few days, so it doesn't cause any problems. x0x0

I don't know if this is normal, but I just started my period a couple months ago and whenever I noticed that I got it(I have gotten it 3 times), I don't feel it. Any period 101 pages etc. say that you will feel like you wet yourself or that something is in your underwear, but I never notice it until I actually go to the bathroom. Is this normal to be happening?

There is no scientific proof that sharks will be attacted because of your period, so you should be fine =)

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!! So sometimes instead of my period every month i get dark brown discharge instead of blood is this normal?! it's just as heavy as blood if not a tiny tiny bit lighter but what is going on?!

It means that it could possibly be coming soon. Ask your mother to take you shopping for some pads and pantiliners, and use the pantiliners until your period comes

I have a sleepover tonight and I started my period last night.
They say we MIGHT swim.
I don't feel comfortable telling the girls I'm on my period cuz some of them I'm not friends with very well.
I also don't want to wear a tampon.
What is an excuse or another way to get out of JUST the swimming part?

There's this guy who likes me, but I'm not into him. He asked me out & I told him I was busy, but I know I can't keep putting him off. He is also one of my guy friends so if I did go out with him (to be nice) he would brag about it (he's kinda perv.) What do I do???????

The best thing to do is just to let him down easy. Tell him that you really like being his friend, and you don't really have those feelings for him. You can also say how you love your friendship, and don't wanna do anything to ruin that. Good luck! x0x0

Hey girl,

Your periods usually start to become regular about 6 months to 1 year after you first get your period. If it's irregular, it might come in January but not come again until March or April, or you might get it once every couple months.

MOD!!MOD!!MOD!! so yesterday i went to a water park with a friend and when we got there she was really exited to go on a slide she kept saying come on! come on! then i said hold on i have to put on sunscreen and then i said here can you put this on my back please and she did it really fast so when i got home and took a shower and saw my back i was sunburn only for one big spot where she did put sunscreen on. How do i get rid of the big spot on my back?? HELP!!!

To get rid of the pain you might be feeling, you can put some aloe on your back. Unfortunately, you're just going to have to be patient and wait for the sunburn to fade. Next time, use a spray so that it evenly covers your whole bod. x0x0

i havent started my peroid yet but i keep getting a really really heavy discharge when i wipe after i go pee but sometimes it becomes tintid or yellowish and sometimes i find blood when i go to the bathroom i freak out sometimes but not always and im scared to tell my mom because when ever i do she gives me a really long lecture what do i do? and im scared to tell any of my bffs about it because most of them have already started (they told me they did ) what do i do ???????????????
