Okay, so you know how there's always that annoying friend? That's me. I'm über-outgoing, to the point where people are just like "Okay, stop." And I'm really bossy, too. I really want to stop, and start being a better friend. What should I do?

Hey there, girl! That's great that you know that about yourself and wanna work on being a better friend. Try giving your sistahs more of a chance to chime in when you're hangin' out - if you're making plans, make sure that everyone has said what they wanna do before you weigh in. And if everybody else is down for something that isn't your first choice, just let it happen and try to make the best of it. The best policy any time you're chillin' with your besties is just to start listening, so keep track of how much you're gabbing, and make sure everyone gets an equal turn to chat. Good luck!

So my friend has been saying that i have been pretty mean lately. I had no idea i was being mean! and she keeps saying that she doesn't want to be my friend anymore and stuff but she has been mean to me to lately! When we confronted each other she kept saying it was my fault but I didn't know I was being mean! and I still want to be her friend (even though she is really annoying) mainly cause she is the only friend I really have, friendships have not exactly worked out for me and so when I became her friend I made sure I was as loyal as possible so I could keep this friendship but by doing that I lost all other friendships and I also have no idea who I am anymore, HELP!

 

I suggest you ask her what you were doing. If you know exactly what to fix maybe  you can save the friendship. xoxo kerra

I have this good friend who I love to bits but sometimes I can't help but feel jelous. She's better than me in everything! I've always been good at art and drama and english and so is she. I feel so down because I feel like I have to compete against my best friend to have my hobbies back Frown I never show it though. Ever. I always smile and cover up, shes doesn't know how I feel. What should I do? I don't want to stay a green eyed monster, especially not towards a friend but I want my hobbies back, besides, she's good at everything anyway! Thank you Smile




Hey, doll, no one should ever keep you from doing what you love, and in this case, it's yourself that's keeping you from it! You can't be the best at everything, but don't assume that your bestie is always better than you. Focus on being the best you that you can be, and don't constantly compare your work to hers. Another trick to try is to do the things you both do differently. If you're both trying out for the play and your BFF is auditioning with a Shakespeare monologue, you should try out with a modern comedy. Or if she's writing a fiction story for an English project, try writing about a cool place you've visited. The point is, experiment and find out what you really love doing, even if you're not the best at it. And when you're feeling jealous, just remember your accomplishments and you'll feel better.

Hey missy, next time she goes to hit you stop her hand and tell her "Stop". Let her know that you don't like it when she hits you. She might not know that it annoys you, so just tell her. I'm sure she'll stop. Smile

My BFF Ashlynn tried out for the school volleyball team and I wanted to but I couldn't because I play soccer (which is ending in 5 weeks) and my grades aren't that great so my mom said I had to bump them up a bit. Ashlynn made the team, and I'm SUPER proud of her, but I'm also a bit jealous. When I told my sister about this, she said when I did track last year and Ashlynn wanted to but couldn't because HER grades were low, she felt the same way, and that we didn't always have to do things together, but I'm still super jealous! I'd rather be bumping up a volleyball then a bunch of grades! What should I do? Please help!

Hey girl, understand that while academics aren't nearly as fun as volleyball or sports, they're far more important, and your mother is just encouraging you to push yourself harder. So this semester, focus on getting those grades up so you can have the reward of having awesome grades and getting to play a sport this fall. Ashlynn worked really hard on her grades; show her and your mom you can too.

I know what she takes her meds for, my mom told me what they were(shes a nurse) plus I knew before she told me. I've already done all that and nothing worked. You have to decide whether her friendship is worth it. It sounds like she stresses you out most of the time, but if you still wanna be friends, you're going to have to communicate and work it out. If you're fine with ending your friendship, let it happen naturally and gradually- don't hurt her feelings. Good luck!

Okay so theres this girl in my school lets say "K" and we used to be friends, then she invited me to her b-day sleepover and thats when it started to get weird along with like 7 other people at an indoor water park hotel thing. First it started with the buddysystem and she just grabbed my arm and yanked me, I was flattered that she picked me until we got to the water park. She wouldn't let me go anywhere with anyone else and at night we stayed up until 3(we had to share a bed)I woke up at 7 and she was leanig over me and said, " I've been watching you all night waiting for you to get up!"At dinner, me and "M" started hanging out pretending we were spongebob and patrick she got so jealous she banged our heads together and "M" has a boney head. For her present I got her a BFF necklace, and when I stopped wearing it she freaked out! What should I do? I think she is stalkerish, she even has to take meds. You should have seen her at my party when she decided not to take them. Sry

Talk to your friend -- she probably has no idea that some of her behavior offends you. The next time she acts weird, call her out on it in a gentle, constructive way. Instead of just saying, "You're so weird!", a quick and kind "I don't like it when you do that" will go a long way. And if you're sick of her "stalker" behavior? Don't be afraid to distance yourself. Keep in mind, though, that people take meds for lots of reasons -- it might have nothing to do with her behavior, so don't make any assumptions or judge her. Good luck!

bullying really is no joke... a couple of years ago i bullied this one guy and now i am really regreting it because he is soooo smart and he wouldnt help me on a hard question even though i apoligized... lesson here being dont bully because you never know who some one will turn out to be.

I just started school today and my ex best friend (she bullied me for a while, it is not as bad, but still I do not know if I can trust her) is in EVERY SINGLE class that I have!!! Frown Last year, she only had half of them, and now it is worse! I am afraid she might sit around me (in 2 of my classes we can sit wherever we want) and I don't want to have the possibility of her cheating off of me. Any suggestions?

Yikes, sorry to hear you have to be around such a toxic girl. You don't havta be mean (bullying her would be sinking to her level!) but make other friends, and give short answers if she tries to talk to you -- she'll get the hint. If she tries to cheat off of you, cover your answers or just say no. It's not worth risking your grade (and possibly, admission at the school), to help her out. Stay strong!

I'm going back to school next week, and there's this girl I really don't like. She thinks we're her best friends and she follows us around and never leaves us alone. How can we kind of subtly show her we're not really interested in being her friend without being mean? Btw, she's really naive, we already ignored her and even literally ran away from her one time and she didn't get it. Thanks!!

You ran away from her? Ouch! (Have you ever read the Pretty Little Liars books? Mona, anyone?) What's so bad about her that she can't hang out with you and your friends? Try letting her hang out with you and your friends before you push her away - she might be a lot cooler than you thought. If you still don't want to hang out with her, you should at least give her a reason, like that you don't share common interests.

Hi. So I'm pretty sure I have an anxiety disorder. Almost every night, I feel like I'm going to die, and the nights I don't, I feel like someone is going to come in and kill me. It gets to the point I need a phone at my bedside. Also, I feel like I have to do things the exact same way every day or something bad is going to happen. When I'm in a bathroom stall, I have to make sure I can get out of it in case the door is jammed. I hyperventilate a lot and often, when I have a headache or something, I think I'm going to die because of it. I've been taking tests online, and they're saying I should seek help in case I do have an anxiety disorder. I've tried to tell my parents, but they say I'm just "growing up" and I'll forget about it. How can I get them to see this could be more serious than they think?

Having parents distrust you is never easy, but only a professional can diagnose you for sure. If you can't get your parents to take your worry seriously, talk to your school's guidance counselor. She'll have recommendations for you and will be able to talk to your parents if that's what you want.

I want to make new friends this year, but I was kinda mean last year and the friends I had were what was left. I changed my attitude and am ready to start over, but everyone already has their 'group' of friends and I don't wanna try to get in it, that's just awkward.
Should I try to make friends with people I already sorta know? There's a girl in a couple of my classes who was in my Home Economics class last year, I think we could be good friends.
What should I do??

My very close friend in school is going through a rough patch in her life. Now she's taking it out on me. At first I didn't mind the harsh words, but now she's making fun of very personal things.It got to a point were i wondered which Emma (not her real name) I was going to talk to mean Emma or nice Emma I tried to talk to her about her life and how I don't like the "rude names" she's been calling me but it just got very awkard and she clamped up. Before the summer I got so mad that I shouted at her about how I'm going through a rough patch to but I'm not bagging on her and now we're not talking soon I have to face her again and i have a feeling next year is going to be worse. HELP!!!!

It sounds like your friend is dealing with some pretty serious stuff that she's not ready to talk about with you, at least not yet. That doesn't give her the right to be rude to you, though! Try to sit down with her and explain that you won't judge or make fun of her, and that you want to help her through what she's dealing with, but you aren't going to put up with her being rude to you. If that means you have to give her some space for a little while, tell her you respect that and you'll be there when she's ready to be kind again.

There's a huge difference between sticking up for yourself and being mean. I'm sorry you were made fun of, but making fun of other girls won't help! If someone says something mean to you, it's okay to defend yourself, but don't pick on other girls, even if they've done something to upset you.

If your friend is talking about you behind your back, you shouldn't just sit and take it. Tell her you don't appreciate her spreading rumors about you, whether or not they are true. If you're new to the country, you don't have to label your relationship as "best" friends yet, so see what happens after your conversation before making any big  decisions.

Please help! I self diagnosed myself with ocd (i looked up the symptoms i have all of them). I i touch something with my left hand i just have to touch it with my right. I have to do the same things every night otherwise i feel something bad is gonna happen. But when i started to tell my mom i think i have it, she yelled and said "dont say that! I dont want you saying that again katie you dont have it!" so my older sister stephanie (shes 26) is coming over on thursday and i want ro tell her but im afraid shes gonn sau the same thing as my dad. I cant tell my dad cuz he will jut laugh and say that i dont i think my mom said what she said cuz my brother was diagnosed with it a few years ago and it was hard on her. Can you please help? Should i tell my sister? Thanks




You should talk to your sister privately regarding your feelings and explain to her that it hurts that your parents have been against the idea

so i used to have this best friend who hard times at home. her mom was pretty mean and her parents werent living together. she even said her mom was mean and she said her mom spilled juice on her camera. and i felt for her. the thing is she wasnt exatctly a good friend. she would talk about me behind my back and sometimes it was really dumb things like how my phone was sooooo stupid and stuff but other times it was hurtful. and shes spoiled and can sometimes be selfish and she doesnt know that i dont wanna be her friend and i feel really bad because of her family probs. should i feel bad cuz it really gets me sometimes. thnks




Hey girly!

You should try talking to her before you end your friendship. You might really be able to help her out when she needs it. Tell her how you feel when she says those things and why it hurts you. If she doesn't stop, then maybe you should tell her that you don't want to be friends anymore, but you'll be there if she ever needs anything.

MODMODMODMOD i REALLY need help! so theres this one "friend" and she is a drama queen, loves complaining, and is lazy. she also goes thru mood swings. so one day shell just start ignoring me or throwing mean comments out that i KNOW are directed towards me, even if she doesnt say so. then ill confront her and she acts like shes crying and apologizes. then in like a month, she ignores me again! im getting sick of her having mood swings about me, butting me out of her life, trying to get keep me away from my other friend, and bullying other kids in my class! How do i tell her i dont want to be her friend anymore, but i dont want to be her enemy? I have plenty of other true friends. i dont want to hurt her feelings, but i REALLY am done with being her friend. MOD please HELP!

Try talking to this girl about how you feel. Maybe she'll finally realize and change for good. If not, you don't have to tell her you don't want to be friends. Just try hanging out with new people and making new friends! Branching out is never a bad thing.
