MOD MOD MOD!
I'm worried that I'm addicted to exercise! It seems like I can never just sit down for a few moments. Whenever I'm reading a book I'm on the floor in a push up position while reading it, and whenever I'm in my room I half to be doing something active like jumping jacks. I literally dance for hours on end, last night I was dancing from 12am to 3 in the morning, no lie! And whenever I can, I do little exercises like push-ups or even yoga poses. I'm worried that I have some kind of disorder or if I just love to exercise. Please help!

Hey, Girl! Sorry for the “stock” message. We’re psyched you’re here but since this is a super busy time, mods aren’t able to answer personal advice or contest questions. We’re approving your comments now so the girls can start offering feedback right away! If you still have questions, please come back, we’re happy to help…or just let the other chicas answer now! MOD MOD MOD!
I need so much help! I can't find any work-outs that won't make me throw up. Even when i was in really good shape, i would throw up after work-out sessions and I think I may have asthma!! My friend says I prob do cuz she has it and almost the same things happen to her, but my parents say that i dont. Some times it feels like it when i get rlly scared. So I have some things to ask help for:
1. Does it seem like i have asthma?
2. What work-outs can i do that wont cause mt to throw up?
3. what are some healthy meals because the food at my school that i buy is soooooooooooo unhealthy
4. I enjoy tennis and dance, but im not sure if i shld try for the teams next yr because of my problems and health
5. Im concerned about my health and weight because most of my friends weigh less than me but they are shorter, what shld i do?
(sorry for so many questions :/ but thx Laughing )

Hey girly! It sounds like you may be pushing yourself too hard in your workouts. Maybe try something low impact, like swimming, or water aerobics. Or, something fun, like taking a dance class! Also, yoga and pilates are great ways to tone up Smile

MOD MOD MOD! I need help. I've never exercised much but I really want too. I feel like I'm too overweight for my age and height, and all my friends are up to 30 lbs lighter than me. I know I have to exercise more but I really hate it. I'm going into middle school and my mom says I have to try out for at least one sport, but I absolutely hate sports! I've tried soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, track, swimming, and football and I've hated every single one of them. Plus I hate the competition of sports, and all the running around and stuff tires me out too easily. I really want to be healthy but I don't know how. Please help! And sorry that this is long.

Hey missy, exercising can be fun! All you have to do is find the right workout routine for you. Maybe jogging, jumping jacks, or running up and down steps will work for you. Listening to music while you workout makes it fun and passes the time by quicker. I don't know what kind of music you're into, but some good exercising songs are Beyonce-Countdown, Rihanna-Only Girl in the World and Katy Perry ft. Kanye West- E.T. Dancing is even exercising! Check out this link to Beyonce's dance/exercise routine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYP4MgxDV2U And even doing little things will help keep you healthy, like drinking water instead of soda, taking the stairs instead of elevators, and taking out the trash. Hope this helps ya!!Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

ModMod Mod! I get major cramps when i run. how do i get that to stop!

Hey cutie!

Try making a stop at your doctor and explaining the problem for him.  Or pull aside your mom and talk to her about it.  They're your two best bets for finding a solution!  Good luck!

MOD MOD MOD
I really want to be a model, but every time a do a pose just around the house, my sister thinks I'm joking. She says, "Wow, you're horrible." I just act like it doesn't hurt my feelings. I trick her into playing games where we have to model and pose. But she still says I'm horrible because I give her honest critique. I told her to stop. I stopped playing the game once after yelling at her. I didn't want to. It was so mean for me to that. Anyway, I'm still angry at her because she keeps doing that. I don't want to tell her that I want to be a model because she'll just laugh. The when she's mad at me, she says I'm a horrible singer when I love to sing. It hurts. And then she jokes about after I try really hard to meet a note, she says that was messed up. i just say yeah it was when I think it was good. What do I do?

Hey girl, Tell you sister how you feel! Let her know that you are serious and want to learn how to model-maybe she could show you what she thinks is good modeling and can help you practice. Tell her you are looking for constructive criticism so you can get better, not just cruel comments.

xoxo Tory

mod emotionaly academicaly or physicaly handle school this year after 3 days todays my first day of what i guess you would call semi-unschooling my parent said I'd have to set my own requirements and they'd have to be reasonable which is why its considered semi-unschooling I guess but how do we both stay motivated? Our plan is for me to do 20 simple math probs a month, week daily I look up some simple history or science thing and memorize it if its not memorized get 3 more math problems and read a book on learning French be part of the monthly American Girl bookclub at my local library read the book, attend the meeting and make a report also one of my besties was at the school I just dropped out of and she's taking it a bit hard how can I help her cope w me being a homeschooler? also just in case you dont know what unschooling is its where you learn by living your everyday life and decidin what you wanna learn when you wanna learn it my moms makin me read 300page books n make reports

Hey girl,

If you're having problems staying motivated, talk to your parents -- they can help keep you going. If your bestie is struggling with the idea, assure her that you'll still have time for her even if you aren't in classes together. She's probably just upset she won't get to spend homeroom with you everyday.

At my house we have a stationary bike. I was wondering how long I should ride it for a day. My goal isn't to lose a bunch of weight, I just want to be healthier. Thanks!

Hey chica!

Start off with shorter times and work your way up -- if you start off with too much you could injure yourself! Try ten minutes the first day, twenty minutes the next, thirty minutes the next -- it all depends on what you're ready for.

I'm 12. I have some fat that I want to lose. I want to lose the fat from my thighs and stomach. And fast. As in like 2 weeks to a month. But I don't want it to seem obvious because my mom thinks I'm fine the way I am.Please help! I just want to be skinny!!!(er) Thanks in advance! Smile

Hey girl, your mom is right: you're fine just the way you are, BMI and bod-wise. Just take care of yourself. Exercise and eat a healthy, balanced diet. Remember too your bod is growing: your shape is going to change from that of a kid's to a woman's. Just give it time and the nutrients it needs for fuel.

Mod mod mod is it a bad idea to try to make friends at the mall and places

Hey girl.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bad idea, but it's not totally safe, either. If you do try to meet new people, make sure they're your age and you have an adult with you.

I have never been unschooled or homeschooled. I actually go to a public school. I've never really wanted to be homeschooled just because I'm a very social person and I love being around people 24/7. It's just a personal preference, but I have friends that are homeschooled!

Sorry, girl!

Just think about your future and what it will do for you in the long run. Focus on doing what's best for you and what you want to do. It might get hard to be away from your friends, but if normal school was too hard, remember that you're doing what's best for you.

MOD!
How does a relationship work? What are the steps and what do you have to do to keep it a good relationship? Just curious Smile Thanks

Hey girl.

Relationships have to be two-sided. If one person puts in all of the effort, it won't work. You have to give as much as you take. It's definitely best to start off as friends. Get to know each other and hang out a few times. You need to make sure you really like someone before you jump into anything. Once you're in the relationship, honesty is really important. The best relationships are built around honesty and trust. Hope that helps!

MOD MOD MOD MOD Smile
I have realized that my friend criticizes everything about me. Pretty much every day she'll find something about my outfit that's "wrong" like frizzy hair or a shirt that doesn't look good on my "body type." She'll try to intervene on dates with my boyfriend, like saying we should go in the woods to makeout instead of chill in the park, which is what we actually did. I told her I was going to HAWAII and she immediately said "oh no, don't do that, Florida's better." I've also noticed that whenever something good happens to me (like my first kiss) she'll immediately change the subject back to herself, like how she got a B on her science test. I think I know why she acts like this, but can I had a second opinion? What do you think is up with my "friend"? Thanks Smile

Hey girl!

It's definitely possible that your friend is feeling jealous of you. I would love to have a boyfriend that takes me on dates and to have the chance to go to Hawaii! Try talking to her about how all of this makes you feel. If she understands, great! If she's not willing to change, do you really want a friend like that in your life?

MODS!!! i need to deside really fast if i wanna switch schools (from private to public, freshman yr) The reasons I'd switch are mostly for social reaqsons (i'd have a better chance of dating, more friends... ect.) It absultely terrfies me tho cuz i know no one and i've dealt w/ not so nice ppl from there... At my school im safe and have plenty of friends (not the best always but, i'm nv alone) no worries( also very small chance of dating)... but i've been wanting to switch for some times... are switching for a better chance of having a bf and more friends a good enough reason to go thorugh all this stress??? idk was it worth it for you?

well i went to a public school and i absolutely loved the experience. So i dont think youll be all stressed and upset. Youll meet awesome people and have a great time. So i say do it. I wouldnt have traded up my experience in public school for anything. xoxo kerra

I'm gonna be a freshman this year so it's gonna be my first homecoming in October. me and my friends were talking about it and we found this one dress online and it's amazing. How can I try to convince her to let me buy the dress for homecoming?

Hey Mods!
Its super hot where I live, so that means no outdoor cardio. Which is really annoying because I'm trying to get rid of fat on my lower body and the only way to do that is cardio. I don't have a stationary bike or treadmill and I haven't go a lot of indoor space. What can I do indoors for the same effect?
Also, I'm really, truly, incredibly depressed about not getting into a good theatre class at school this year. Its an arts school so you can see how important that is. Theater is really important to me. I don't understand why I'm not in a good class. I got all A's in my advanced class last year. I actually like my audition and worked extra hard on it. I think maybe my teacher dislikes my work ethic? I don't know. How am I supposed to get over this?
If possible could you respond to this on my profile? Thank you so much! You guys are such a big help, I just wanted to say that.

Hey Girl!

Try jumproping for a fun cardio work out you can do indoors. You don't even need a jumprope -- just move your arms and legs like you would if you had one. Dancing is another great cardio exercise, and super fun!

And don't be down over missing out on one class -- it's not productive, and if you wallow you'll just feel worse. Just work hard in the class you're in, focus on your work ethic (or any other weakness you think you might have). It might be a good idea to talk to your teacher about how you can improve. It'll show you care, and you'll get a better idea of what you need to work on. Don't let a little sitch like this get you down!

MOD!
Where can I buy cute fitted polo shirts in light/babyblue without any logos or anything on it?

Try a brand like Hanes, which sells lots of plain clothing without logos.

MOD MOD MOD
At the beginning of summer, I planned on doing cross country. I trained hard throughout the summer, and I still really want to join, but now I have so many other conflicts that I'm not sure I can. I'm doing drivers ed, dance, and marching band, and I'm also taking classes with a lot of hw. My parents said it would be best not to do xc, but I still REALLY want to. Should I go for it, or should I keep training and do track in the spring? Thanks!!

Hey Chica!

Remember, school comes first. If you can't finish your homework AND do all those activities, something has to go. If you can cut something else so you can work in XC, go ahead, but if you already have a lot on your plate, consider waiting til Spring. Talk to your parents, and even your guidance counselor. It all depends on what your priorities are, and what you think you can handle.
