I have a lot of blemishes and a little discoloration in the creases at the corner of my nostrils. What can I do to clear that up?

I'm very self-conscious about my skin because I have a lot of scars, discoloration, and several pimples. I'm 13 and I really want to start wearing face makeup, but I'm not sure how to ask my mom because she'll probably say no. I've already told her how I'm self-conscious and stuff. Any tips? Thanks! Hey girlie,

Definitely don't present your case like, "All my friends wear makeup and I can!" Try to talk to her maturely and tell her exactly what you told me, about feeling insecure about the way your skin looks and just wanting to start with a subtle concealer to enhance your beauty. Make sure she knows how much more confident you'd feel, how much happier you'd be, etc.... that's your best shot for winning her over <3 But understand that she might say no. And that's ok! Some girls don't start wearing makeup til much later. It just depends on their personal "right age"<3

Ive recently stopped using concealer, foundation ect. to see if my acne would stop and it did. i use proactive. i have noticed that my face feels more oily than it did when i wore makeup. When i wore makeup it was a little oily and now everywhere feels like it just a little more-no shine though- except my nose is dry) is it just in my head? or??

Nope, it's not just in your head! It's totally possible that you're noticing it more now because you're going au natural. Try a mineral powder or a gentle cleanser for combination skin, which is what you've got!

Okay so I used to have really bad acne, but now its almost completely gone with the exception of one or two pimples. BUT I have a lot of acne scares on my face which makes my face look the same as before. What can I do to make my skin even out and the scars to go away?




Hey chica! 

While I use Mederma (an over the counter cream) to make my scars go away, the only person who can help you plan out a treatment that will work out best for you is a dermatologist, so if you can get to the doc, he or she will be able to help you best. If you can't, I'd wash my face in the morning and at night with a cleanser, then use Mederma on my scars. Good luck! xoxox

Hey girlie,

Be sure to wash your face once or twice a day with a gentle cleanser! That's #1. You could also use an exfoliating cleanser every other day to buff your skin. Remember not to touch your face throughout the day because your hands can transfer oils, which clog pores! Drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep. Breakouts can be caused by any of these things, plus also stress or diet. And read this article for a few more great tips!

Just use oatmeal! it's something u can find in your kitchen and your skin can improve around a month or two! just take handful of dried oatmeal and wet it until its damp, then squeeze the milky water onto FACE and massage until it covers face. then just apply the oatmeal to whole face or needed places with acne/blemishes and your face will improve in no time! just rinse off with luke warm water, and damp off with cloth, then close your pores by splashing face many times with cold water!

My friend has a lot of little bumps on her face and neck. She says they're not acne, or exzema or anything like that. Her dermotologist doesn't know what they are or how to make them go away! She's really bothered by them and feels really self conscious because she's not allowed to wear powder or consealer to hide them. School picture day is coming up in a couple weeks and she wants to know what to do to get rid of them before then! PLEASE HELP!! Other girls that give advice are totally welcome to help!!

It's hard to say what your friend could have if her dermatologist doesn't know either, but it might be a skin condition called Milia (get more information here). Her best bet is to try an exfoliating facial cleanser. These ones usually have exfoliating beads in them, and you can find cheap ones at the drugstore. They might not go away completely, but if she goes to school on picture day with a big smile and lots of confidence, her pics will turn out great anyway! Good luck!

Hey girl!

Do you let the lemon juice sit on so it has a chance to really settle into your skin?  Give it some time, chica.  But if it never seems to quite do the trick, it may not work well on you.  If that's the case, try something else!

Hey Doll,

Most skin-clearing methods take a few weeks to work, but you should be using a facial cleanser with the lemon juice. You can get cheap versions at drugstores, just make sure benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are listed as ingredients. Here's more information on washing your face.

If you have scars from picking pimples, rub lemon juice on the area once a day. Don't wash it off. I found results after the first time!!

MOD MOD First day of school start in four days and I feel sick and my skin looks TERRIBLE! Anything I could do? Have lots of blemishes and scars... Preferably a natural solution . I can't use anything too harsh




Hey girlie!

First off, don't pick at any blemishes you may already have.  That makes it much, much worse.   Use a gentle face wash morning and night, and hold a warm, wet washcloth on the blamishes for a few minutes twice a day to draw out the unpleasantness that's in there.

If you're willing to take a step away from natural solutions, then find an acne cream with benzoyl peroxide and salyciic acid.

MOD MOD MOD okay so i have acne, and i have a dermatologist in 4 days, im a little nervous! I'm worried weather they will give me a product and it won't work or they will do something when im there. How do i know what to be prepared for? thanks!




Hey girl,

They'll probably come in and give you a "check up" like a normal doctor - they'll ask about your medical history, ask about your acne problems and what kind of routine you keep (cleaning, moisturizing, exfoliating, etc.), then check out your face. The first product they give you might not work - that's totally a possibility. But they're your doctor and it's their job to figure out what's causing the problem, then find something to fix it. Be honest and open with your doc so they're updated on what works, what irritates your skin, and what downright does nothing. Trust them and be sure you're honest - remember that and you'll be fine! Smile

NEVER pop them! Promise me that. You could cause scars to form, which is even worse than having whiteheads and pimples - because scars last forever! Instead, clean your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Exfoliate two or three times a week with a scrub - use your fingers to scrub your skin with a soft, circular rubbing motion. And don't forget to drink a lot of water. It's great for your skin!

ok so i have dark circles under my eyes and they arnt bags like when they are right under my eyes but they are under that. and they are purple blue. and they look really bad, like i look like i havnt slept in 5 days!!! how can i help this!?!?!?!
p.s. my mom says that its normal and everyone has them, but none of the people i know have them!!!




Hey girl, your mom is right: everyone does have them to some extent. They're just shadows. You can add a little concealer to brighten them up if you're really worried or just relax and realize they're part of everyone's face and no one else notices the way you do.

okay so last night i tried to use nair for hair above my lip (aka peach fuzz) and it took off most of the hair but there are still a couple shorter dark ones that didnt go away all the way but that isnt my problem its just reallly annoying. anyways it iterated the skin and now at the corners of my mouth i have little patches of skin that are dry red and scab-like and it looks really bad and i tried moisturizing, using cover-up and now i have neosporn on it but i don't know what to do because school starts on monday!!! also now that i know nair isnt good for my skin what will i use when the hair grows back because itll be darker and i wont be able to use nair!! HELP!!!!!!




Hey girlie, neosporin is probably the best solution for the red patches on your lip. I'm sure they'll be gone by Monday and you can use cover up if it's not. In the future, tweeze the hairs. It might hurt, but they'll be gone for 3 weeks or so and won't irritate it as much.

Here are my skin care tips, and they work sooooo good! First I splash some warm water on my face and then use Neutrogena's oil-free acne stress control scrub. It is the best! Then I pat my face dry. Finally, I put the target brand benzol peroxide spot cleaner on any zits. This works great! I've had little to no acne when using this!

TO ALL GIRLS WITH ACNE
i tried the clean and clear advantage acne treatment and my skin is SO much better!!!!!!!!! i had a huge zit on my chin and i used it and put the spot treatment on it and today(after using for 1 day) the zit is barely there!!!!! it also cools my skin off and is the only thing ive tried that doesnt dry my skin out, please try it, its so much better then nuetragena!!!!

MOD MOD MOD okay so the area under my eyes and cheeks is SO VERY RED! i think this year im going to lightly cover it with foundation, just enough so it looks natural, not fake. but what ddo you think it is? do u think its just my skin tone, or is it some medical condition? sorry i know its probly hard to visualize haha

 

Hey girl, it could be your skin tone! Or you might just have sensitive skin. If you start to develop a rash, or it starts to sting, def go see a doctor. But cover-up should do the trick!

So i recently started using tampons and their so much nicer! i never had trouble but when you do put them in i found there's a tiny bit of blockage right before you insert it properly. my bff always wear's pads and when we go to the beach she doesn't take her shorts off etc.... she really likes to have fun and i'm really upset that she doesn't wear tampons. she wants too and always tries to get it in but the little 'blockage' always stops her and she won't push past it and gives up easily. HELP!!!! i really want to help but coaxing her outside of the bathroom really isn't working -_-

 

Hey girl! Your friend may be feeling pressure to put one in- tell her to relax and take a deep breath. If she is tense, she will give up easily. Tell her the feeling she has is normal, and you feel it too. It might help if she talked to her mom or another adult as well.

Hey girl, you can totally try it! Just because it says oil free doesn't mean that it will dry out your skin. If it does dry out your skin, you can always pick another product or find an acne-fighting moisturizer to put on after you wash your face.

Hey girl, unfortunately there's no way to reduce blood flow; I'd just suggest wearing a heavier pad. If this flow continues for more than a week, definitely let your mother know and have a doc check it out. For now, however, assume it's not a cut but just your period flowing heavily.
