If it is too thick and you dont want to shave you can trim the hair with scissors. Just be careful, you dont want to cut yourself. You would be surprised how short you can get it if you want and how you can trim and still leave some.
But you could also ask your mom about shaving, I think moms understand that is what most of us are doing so she would probably understand. I have even heard of mom and daughter waxings so I think they know we need to trim and shave down there.

I hate pubic hair. I have a ton and latley I've grown a pacth on my upperthigh area. During my period I get blood stuck in it.
