I need help. Me and my mom dont have a good relationship. I feel like sometimes she cares about me, but other times she can be a bit selffish. I guess sometimes i feel like she treats me unfairly. Well today i refused to do a chore and i have to admit, i was being real mean about it. But you cant blame me! Im 13 and going through puberty, and Im very mean at this age! Well anyway she took my phone away. now shes out to dinner with everyone except me. I feel like i can be too mean to her, because she just can be unfair sometimes. IDK how to fix my problem with being too mean to her. Im not good at talking things out with her so what do i do?

hey! You have to learn to control your temper around her. next time she makes you mad try taking a deep breath and not speaking if you know you're just going to say something mean. If she asks why you're not talking just say you're not in the right frame of mind to chat right now, and come back when you're feeling more calm. hope this helps!

Okay, so I really want a cellphone but i can't get it until I get my licence (I'm only 13) or i have to pay for it ALL by myself. My sister paid for hers but she started out with unlimited texting. She went crazy so my parents limited her to 3,000 send and recieved a month. They said that if I get my cell phone that i would start out with 3,00 texts sent and recieved. I don't get to prove myself at all that i can keep my texting under control. I think i'm more responsible than her but I'm mad that I can't prove myself. Any Advice? Thanks!

3000 sounds like a lot, but it sounds like this is more about your relationship with your family than about your phone. Sit down with your parents and tell them you don't like being compared with your sister because you're a different person. They may not change their rules about the phone, but they'll appreciate your honesty.

I want to start doing pagents and/or modeling(peferably pagents). I have got a letter in the mail 2 or 3 times about the NAM(National American Miss). I have hinted to my mom about being involved in the pagent but she just kinda blows it off. I think I have even talked to her about it once but she doesn't like the idea. Any ideas on how I can convince her to let me do pagents or modeling? Thanks in advance

If she doesn't like the idea, then you can't really force her into it. If that's the case, wait a year or a few months and bring it up again. Your best bet in talking it out with her is to show her that you can handle the harshness of those competitions but that it's something you really want to do and have for a long time. Jordan S.

MOD MOD MOD! I think that my stepdad cares about making my life miserable. One time i tod him i couldnt vacum because i needed to do my homeworm and be said oh well not my problem youll just have to tell your teacher that you were too busy cleaning. When i have hours of hw my parents top priority is that i clean the house and other stuff which takes forever and backs me up really far. Also hes always trying to take my pho.e away for no reason yells at me when i do hw instead of doing stuff he cant do because hes watching tv or for some reason cant make dinner on his own HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Since school started my parents have been paying more attention to my brother because he has trouble with his school work. And sometimes they are helping him for more than 3 HOURS. And when the finish helping him and i ask them to hang out with me they always have to do other stuff. I'm feeling really left out and its like they don't want to spend time with me anymore. What should I do?

The best thing you can do is tell your parents exactly how you feel. Just sit them down and say, "Hey mom and dad. I know my brother's having a lot of trouble with school and you've been helping him lately, but I want to spend time with you too! Is there any way we can go pumpkin picking this weekend?" Don't whine and don't bust out the waterworks. Chances are, mom and dad will say yes! xoxox

mod Mod Mod Mod MOD MOD MOD Heyy, so a few times i have gone downstairs, and i find my dad sitting in a chair facing the other way. it smells horrible (like smoke) and then he sees (or hears that im there) and he hides it before I can see it. Once time he even ran up a huge hill to hide it from me... he even knocked me down before! All I want to know is what it is, and why can't he tell me. I get that he might be embarrassed, but I don't think that means he has to keep a secret about this. I told this to my BFF, and she said that it smelt like a smoker's house...... What can I do to see what it is?? PLEASE don't tell me to ask him. I tried that and he got extremely mad at me. THANK YOU FOR HELPING!!

Hey girly, your dad is entitled to his privacy and he makes the rules. So if there's something he doesn't want you to see, chances are you probably won't be able to see it. If it's something that serious, you don't need to know what it is. You might have to let this one girl. . . .

I got into yearbook comitee and i was rlly proud of my self. I told my mom dat and she said any thing else more impotant than that. Which means dat my accomplishment isnt important to her. I tried to let it go but im still upset. Please dont tell me to tell her how i feel becayse i did that before and we ended up fighting and she got rlly mad.... Wat shuld i do?

I don't think she said that to mean yearbook committee is unimportant - I think she said that to see if you had any academic news, parent meetings, etc. to tell her about. If you don't want to talk to her, there's really no way to know EXACTLY how she meant it (or for you to directly tell her how much it means to you), so definitely do your best to put it behind you. Gush about your new position to your friends who support you, show mom how much work you do on your yearbook projects once things get going (to show her that it's important), and remember that feeling of pride you felt when you got into the committee. That's the most important thing!!!!! You should be very proud, girl - enjoy it!!!!!

My parents don't let me keep my ipod touch. I really want to keep it because I feel like I can take control of myself and not play it the whole afternoon. But when I was younger, I used to play the electronics all day and I wouldn't get anything done, so my mom took it away. Now, I feel like I'm responsible enough to keep my own electronics, but my mom wouldn't trust me to keep it anymore. I tried talking to her and showing her that I was responsible, but it didn't work. Help please.

Hey girl,

Try striking a compromise with your parents. Tell them you will only listen to it for ONE hour a day (or however much they want - just before bed, etc.), then you will put it away in your room and promise not touch it for the rest of the day. Just tell them you believe you are mature enough now to monitor it on your own, but you still want to respect their rules so you want them involved. Then, stick to that promise! You can definitely do this - be mature about this deal and I'll bet mom will be on board.

MOD MOD MOD My mom doesn't like me. she thinks i should lose weight but i thing im fine. and if i dont like one idea she has she tells me that the world doesnt revolve around me. I was just stating my one opinion! and with my siblings making everything i say into making fun of me... im just really stressed and sad. What can i do? i really hating life right now.

Hey girly, continue to have your confidence! You look fine and there is nothing wrong with your opinions and beliefs. Stay true to yourself. It just sounds like your siblings and mom are just a little bit jealous of you. They're probably insecure and see how strong you are, and it makes them feel better to put you down. So keep that in mind and don't pay any attention to their insults. Hope this helps!!!

My best friend's mom is way too expectant of my best friend!!! She expects my best friend to have perfect grades and get 100 percents on every single test and assignment, which isn't possible AT ALL. She wants my friend to spend all her free time studying on things that she doesn't even need to know and my best friend is feeling like she isn't enough for her mom. She texts me everyday with complaints of her mom, and I'm always supportive of her, but she told me that she's been having some thoughts of suicide and I'm really really worried about her. Can you give me some ideas on something that can uplift her spirits and advice on her mom? Thanks sooooooo much!!!!!

If your friend is having suicidal thoughts and needs to talk to someone, have her call the National Suicide Prevention Line at 1-800-273-TALK. Mom drama can get a lot of girls down, so help your friend out by getting her out of her house as much as possible. Have her come over your house for sleepovers or go out for ice cream and hit the movies. Your friend should try to compromise with her mom for more reasonable rules, like every time she gets an A she can get a free day off of studying. The best way for your friend's mom to chill out is for them both to communicate instead of arguing. You're an awesome friend for trying to help her out, good luck!
