My period is out of whack! It's so heavy on the first two days that I'm always changing my tampons every few hours. Then, I get...

Does anyone know of the other ways of regulating our hormones other than being on the birth control pill? I thought that was the only way was to be on the pill but the article says there are other ways. One of my bff has been on the pill for a while to help regulate her periods and she said she has weird cravings during certain times and its all hormonal related.

Hey emvhorses, yeah sounds like your period is on it's way. Be sure your mom gets you some pads and medicine just in case you get cramps. Xoxo

I am 11 and have had discharge for almost 2 WHOLE YEARS!!! I am also 110 lbs and 5'3. I have had boobs for almost 2-3 years. My mom had hers when she was 10 or 11. Do you think I'll have it soon? I also had the tiniest bit of blood when I wiped the other day. :-| Lynae P.

Hi i am 13 and i have not started my period but i was wondering what do you think will help because i always feel like i 'wet myself' with discharge, is there anything i can do to stop feeling like this. thanks!!!

Hey chickadee! Discharge can be such a pain. But, it might help to wear a pantyliner or small maxi pad throughout the day in your undies. That way, you won't feel so gross!

I've had my period since I was eleven & I recently turned fifteen on New Years Eve. Even after 3 and 1/2 years it's still irregular! I'll get my periods anywhere from 25-40 days apart from each other. It's completely random & I'm always caught off guard. Is it okay for my period to still be very irregular after 3+ years? Also, my period is super heavy. Whenever I get it I am always dizzy, shaky, & extremely pale. I seriously think I'm anemic. I am a vegetarian and even with iron supplements I don't get enough iron [I know that's bad]. Do you think it would be a good idea to talk to my doctor about all of this?

Hey girl,

It can be normal for your period to be irregular, but if you're experiencing dizziness and think you have an iron deficiency, you should definitely talk to a doc as soon as you can!

Hey Mod!
During my period I noticed I don't feel as hungry or want to eat a lot- and when I do, I end up feeling nauseus. I also have really bad cramps in the mornings. Is this normal? (this period right now is the only time I"ve had both of these problems.)

Hey girl,

Those sound like pretty normal symptoms, but if you're still worried, talk to mom or a doc to be sure.

So I got my first period and I have horrible cramps and its super heavy..... Is this normal?

Hey girl,

Totally normal! I know it's kinda annoying, but it'll vary in flow throughout the week (from light to heavy to light again) and the cramps will come and go. Luckily though, most periods only last 3-8 days... it'll be over soon! Hang in there! <3 Take Advil for the cramps, use a heat pad/hot water bottle to soothe your belly muscles, and try to relax. We all go through it! Don't forget to read our Periods, Period section to get all the info you need Smile

Hey, so I get my period ever 2 weeks Frown I hate it...(who doesn't) but I have had it since July, I have been getting it every 2 weeks since September/ October. Is this normal? If not I don't wanna tell my mom, or my doctor...that would be awkward. Also what questions does your doctor ask you about your period at a physical? One more thing, I think I'm on the 2nd or 3rd day of my period I have pe today should I go ahead and use a lite tampon?
Thanks, <3 Peyton

Hey girly,

You can def use a tampon!

I'm eleven, and I already started my period. People say they get bad cramps and the muchies and stuff during their period, but I don't. Before my first period, I would get cramps a lot. But now before, during, or after, I don't have anything like that. Is this natural?

Hey girlie,

Totally normal! Girls react to their periods in different ways and our symptoms/signs are all different. Mine even vary from month to month, which is way normal too! As long as it's semi-regular and you're treating your bod healthy, you'll be completely fine Smile

my period is really heavy today I have to change a Heavy Flow pad every 2 hours. I'm home today though. how do you make your period lighter? thanks!

Hey, girlie, unfortunately, there's no way to make your period lighter without medication. Talk to your mom about seeing your doctor if your heavy flow is getting in the way of your life.

Ok, my period has been really irregular. i had one one May 12 2011, my first one, and one august 17. and thats it. so i might have my period again but idk? today i thought i may have had it, so i tried my moms method. put in a tampon for a few secs then take it out. if theres blood, chances are your on your period. if not your not. well i did that and i took it out and idk whatit was. it was like brown and clumpy on the tampon. is this bad or just my period? im kinda freaking out cuz im new with this and i hope its nothing bad! Thanks!

Hey girlie,

Usually, that brown stuff happens at the start/end of your period. So it could be on its way! It's totally normal for your period to be irregular, especially at the beginning. But since you're skipping major amounts of time in between periods, you should feel free to ask your doc if they have any advice. Just explain your situation and see what he/she recommends Smile
