OK, i have a "broken family" and it is taking a HUGE toll on me. My dad is mean and he says to get over it, and my mom thinks i'm being dramatic. My dad has committed domestic violence! He's cheated!
How can i NOT be affected????
I started cutting myself and my parents found out this year. I convinced them that it was just last year-and they believed me.
But it wasn't just last year, it was this year too, and it was/is WAY worse than last year.
I don't want to make myself some freak in my family and make it even more broken, but then i don't get any help.

okay so i was invited to tryout for a club soccer team...i tried out and did pretty good, as always ;) and was invited to tryout a second time....the problem is my mom wont let me go...she would rather go make cookies with my grandma. this is a HUGE opportunity for me and she knows that. shes always telling me how i should work hard and earn a scholarship yet she wont let me go out and do it!! me sister and i agree it isnt fair and she should let me go. she wants me to tryout for a different league that i dont think im ready for, but she does....how can i convince her to let me tryout again for the team i was invited to play with???

Tell her you really want to make this team. That it will look good on your resume and be a good opportunity for you. If you have to bargin with her and say youll do chores if she lets you go try out. Good luck! xoxo kerra

MOD!!!! I am really skinny, but although I happen to be vegetarian I eat just fine. People are always bothering me about how skinny I am and ask if I am anorexic or bulimic. How can I get them to shut up? They should be more mature, it's the eighth grade now people!

Hey girlfriend, just ignore them. If you stop asnwering their questions, they'll stop answering you. People can be so immature and rude! Smile Smile

My mom used to say I was underweight so I should eat up and she literlly FORCEs me to eat food. And fat food too. She doesn't understand that that's my diet everyday, but I think it's because she makes so much food she can't finish it so she asks others to eat. This might sound crazy, but I've known her long enough to know. Now I'm going through this binge eating disorder, and I don't know what to do about it. Help?

Hey girl! Just sit your mom down one afternoon and explain the situation to her. If you are healthy she will back off and stop shoving food down your throat.

I have to deal with IBS and hypohydrosis(excessive sweating EW) since last year. What should I do?

I smell so bad wherever I go, and people always back away, but don't say anything. even my parents say 'I'm thinking that in my brain.' Mental problems? Nope. I don't.

To make situations worse, I have sweating too, and have to apply deo. like, 10 times a day.(Exaggerating) but people smell it one way or another.

I used to be the most cleanest person on earth, but I'm like sooo bad now. What should I do?

MOD MOD MOD!
My friends think I'm anorexic. They tell me how skinny I am a million times a day. Personally, I don't see it! I don't think I'm fat, I just want to lose some weight. I'm 5'9 and weigh 115 lbs. According to this BMI test I took, I'm underweight. I don't see it! Is something wrong with me?

This happens all of the time for so many girls.  Usually, and I've seen this in my own experience too, we never see ourselves the way others see us.  We judge ourselves harshly.  If your BMI test says you're underweight, then you are.  If you doubt that and still consider yourself to need to lose a few pounds, then go see your doc and add a professional opinion into the mix.

I've been struggling with anarexia with bulimic tendencies...One time my sister brought home candy and I cried because I had to restrict myself. My mom doesn't know I struggle everyday thinking "What if...." But, I've put my self with people on an ana support site and my bestie has even gone through this and just recovered last year. I am trying to recover but when I look in a mirror, I practically cry. What should I do to help myself get on track to become healthier?

Hey there chica! I'm glad you recognize that this is unhealthy. That's the first step. However, I really feel that you should talk to someone about this... maybe a school counselor or someone trained to handle it.

My mom thinks I have anorexia! She keeps asking if I'm eating! I totally am! Help!

Hey girlie,

Just show her that you are! Eat good sized, well-balanced meals in front of her. Show an interest in cooking so you learn new recipes, make dinner for the family, and let her know that food is on your radar. She's probably just looking out for you to make sure you're healthy and not hiding anything from her! But as long as you're eating well and getting exercise, you probably just have a fast metabolism/naturally thin frame. Nothing to be worried about! As long as you know you're healthy and treating your bod right, you can convince her with no problem Smile

Okay, so I have some super low self esteem, and lately I've been thinking I've been on the verge of Anorexia because of it. I don't even realize it when I don't eat anything, but sometimes I can go for a day without even thinking of eating, or just plain avoiding it because I want to get skinnier. All of my friends think it's turning into a problem, as well as my health teacher. How do I get through this and start eating normally again?

Hey girlie,

I'm so happy that you wrote to us and admitted the problem! That's the first step, which can be really hard for a lot of people. But you know you're looking at things differently and feel sick because of the self esteem issue, so that's positive. The next step is to talk to someone about this. You've said that your health teacher knows about it - can you schedule an after-school chat with him/her? Talk about the thoughts you've had, the problem you have eating, and that you really want to get help so you can look at food/your body normally again. He/she will either be able to help you through all your thoughts, or he/she can direct you to a counselor who is trained in this and who can help. You could also talk to a school counselor, clergy person, or another trusted adult - whatever feels most comfortable for you! But the important thing is that you're honest, open, and realistic about this problem. You need to get it under control so you can get back to a normal (and less stressful, less negative) daily life <3

my friend is really jelous of me and me other besties. Like once we were going to te computer lab and she like almost threw one of my friend to the floor just to it next to me and not her sitting next to me

Hey Chica,

This is a hard situation, why don't you try spending more time with this friend so she has no reason to get jealous? People show their feelings in weird ways sometimes, so try talking to this girl to figure out what's wrong.

I am 12 years old and really confused about my sexual orientation. Is it possible to like both boys and girls? I never look at a girl and be like, "oh she's hot" but sometimes i fantasize about them and stuff. And whenever a girl shows some sort of interest in me i get excited. But i really like boys too! And i have boy crushes. But, I don't tell anyone about it because i don't want to be bi and be known as "that gay girl." What is this? Please help.

Hey girl! it is okay to like both boys and girls there is nothing wrong with that! but if you are not necissarily attracted to girl then you may not like like girls. it is okay to have a girl crush with out actually crushing on the girl.

What is synestesia? I think that's how you spell it. Anyway, my friends said I have it because I imagine days of the week in certain colors and months in certain formations in my head. I've never heard of it before, and was curious about what it was. You may not know what it is, sorry if you can't answer. Thanks in advance!

Synesthesia is a neurological condition that some people have that lets them experience one sense or concept through another. For example, a common form of synesthesia is when someone sees each numbers as colors, but some people also smell sounds or see graphic representations of time. It sounds like you might have it! You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia

I go see a social worker. I was on the road to being anorexic and my parents didn't want that, so I've been going to see someone for about 6 months now and it's not as bad as people think. It's actually really good and helpful. If you guys are scared, don't be. Things MUCH worse could happen if you don't get help.
