I was thinking about joining the swim team.... what should i do to prepare. I don't get in the water too often, but I would like to often get in the water. This would not only be a school activity but also a physical activity (an i really need physical activity) THANSK!!! Smile




Hey girlie,

You'll definitely need to focus on cardio so you can swim without getting tired! But you'll need more training than just that, so try asking the swim coach at your school (or an older girl on the team) what you should do to prepare for practices and swim meets. These are the people who know best, so take their advice and get to work! Smile If you're serious about joining the team and preparing the best you can, you'll challenge yourself and succeed!

K so I went through this huge makeover before I started grade nine this year (I lost weight and started dressing better.... Etc.) but guys still dont even look my way, probably cuz I'm really shy Tong so starting like now I'm gonna try to lose a couple more pounds and try new hairstyles and all that, but I need a few tips to attract the hotties, got any good ones?

A makeover is great, but weight and hair aren't everything. Just because you got skinny doesn't mean you'll attract the guys - it's the confidence part that you need to work on! A snappy dresser who walks with her head down and avoids convos with guys won't make a splash. But someone who is healthy, dresses with respect, takes care of herself, and shows that she is confident by starting convos with guys, raising her hand in class, and walking with her shoulders back WILL get people's attention. Work on being less shy and try being a more out-going version of yourself! You don't need to come on super-strong when talking to guys - just make the effort to start convos, ask them questions, and carry yourself in a happy and confident way <3

I am vowing that starting this Sunday, I'm going to use to weeks to help get myself the way I want it. Meaning only 2 pizza-like substances a week and 5 pieces of candy a week for 2 weeks! Also, I'm going to start excersizing for more than an hour a day. Meaning stretching my leg, back, and arms, doing jumping jacks, teaching myself complicated dance moves, all that jazz. I'm also only going to drink 2 sodas a week for 2 weeks. I'll run because, I am NOT even close to being overweight, but my legs are lookin' like they need to be toned up a bit! WAY more water, juice bags, milk, and orange juice, please, to cut out all the soda. Is there anything else I can eat/do/try?

This is a GREAT resolution! You're getting in shape, eating right, and treating your body well. Don't forget to drink plenty of water and get at least 8 hours of sleep every night! It wouldn't hurt to stop procrastinating on your homework either. Do what you can handle and definitely challenge yourself. We wish you the best of luck! If you ever need motivation or someone to talk to while you're tackling these goals, we're always here for ya Smile As for your second question (about the Disney competition), unfortunately I don't think there's a way to know if they're going to have another until they announce it. Just do your research online and I'm sure you'll see if they announce it Smile

Im on this swim team and we have this HUGE compition coming up with more than 500 people coming. I'm really nervous that I'll mess up. What can I do?

The best thing to do to bust those nerves is simple: PRACTICE! It's natural to be stressed out when you're faced with such a big competition. But when you can calm yourself down by saying, "You've tried your hardest. You're totally prepared. You will be fine," it's way easier! <3 Practice all the time, get a good night's rest before, and listen to what your coach recommends. The most important thing is working hard and doing your best!

I am so over weight, im only 11 years old and im ___ pounds!!!! I don't do alot of sports. I've tried ice hockey, basket ball, and karate. I really don't have bad eating habbits, but none of my clothes fit, and cause im so chub, no clothes don't really look good on me, and i don't wear jeans:I. My overweighty-ness is like ruining my life. I wanna look and be skinny, cause i hate having a flabby apple shape. Help me please!!!!!!!

You don't have to do an organized sport to stay healthy! "Working out" can mean anything like walking, jogging, swimming, running up and down stairs, biking, kickboxing, yoga, pilates, running around with your younger cousins, and playing soccer with friends. The most important thing is that you schedule time EVERY DAY to get active and treat your body right. If you don't have a problem with over-eating or junk food, try adding more veggies and lean meats to your normal diet. And dressing your body right is key, too! Check out our style tips and go with classic pieces that are great with an apple body shape: wide-leg pants, a short high heel to make your leg appear longer, a high waisted skirt, layers (a tank and a sheer top, or a fitted tee with a structured blazer), etc. It's all about dressing for the bod you have to emphasize all your beautiful qualities!




And remember, your age does NOT determine what weight you should be. It depends way more on your height than anything else! If you're concerned about the healthy weight for your height, ask your doctor. <3

Hey Juliacar, the first thing you should work on is finding some confidence. Don't let other people's opinion of your body affect how you feel. But there's nothing wrong with being healthy. Try drinking lots of water, munching on fruit and veggies, eating salads and sandwiches on wheat bread. Exercising will defintely help too. Try jumping jacks, jogging, and push ups. Hope this helps!! That's awesome you're getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new! Eat a balanced meal, practice as much as you can before tryouts, and take a few deep breaths. Whether or not you make the team, you did something that made you uncomfortable and gave it your best, which is all you can do and something you should be proud of regardless of the outcome.
