Hey girlie, buy a yoga mat and find some yoga videos. There are some great yoga video podcasts that you can download for free on iTunes like yogamazing. You can find beginner's yoga videos on YouTube. And you can buy them on DVD pretty inexpensively.

My bro is having his (very cute!!) teammates to our house for a pool party in 2 weeks. My friend and I will be there, too. I am average sized, and comfortable rockin' a bikini. The only thing is, I have a tiny bit of flab around my abs. It's not much, and I might be over-analyzing this a little. If I eat healthy, eliminate empty carbs, drink lots of water, exercise my abs, and do some cardio every day, will it help by the time the party hits? Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Help please!!!! Lynae P.

i do 60 bicycles,side planks on left and right for 20 sec each,and 15 two way crunches for 15 sec each. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks ,6 days out of a week, and for about a half month before that i did just 40 crunches a day. I was just wondering when i would start getting really noticeable results or at least flat abs. please respond asap thanks a ton!

That's awesome that you're so committed to your ab workouts. Every girl's body is different so the time it takes for you to see results can vary. I would expect to start seeing results soon, since you've been consistently doing your new ab workout for two weeks. Make sure you're accompanying your ab workout with a little bit of cardio and a healthy, well-rounded diet!

Does anyone know a good way to tone your thighs? I'm a dancer, and my thighs are big and muscular, but they kinda jiggle ( embarrassing!) when I walk.




Hey girl,

For lean thighs, try squats and lunges that really target that area. Since you say that they are already muscular, I wouldn't worry too much about a little jiggle! It sounds like you're already pretty toned!

hey. I am in perfect shape. I do cheerleading, cross country and vollyball. But I have some belly fat. I have tried everything from 25 lbs of weights for crunches or planks for 5 minnutes. Any help possiable? Thanks!(I eat healthy too!)

i'm very athletic, so i'm pretty built. but i have a bit of a stomach that i want to get rid of and the inside of my thighs are horrible i hate them. any ideas on what i could do. oh and i hate working out alone i have nothing encouraging me. its like i have to have competition to push myself to work out.

Please help!! I am very skinny everywhere but my stomach. I'm not sure if I have just "skin" as my mom says or if it's really fat. I feel like its fat....I feel very bad about myself and I feel akward going to the pool because I'm almost 14 and I don't wear bikinis like every other girl my age does! I really want to have a flat stomach and keep it that way so I can feel good about myself. How can I lose the stomach fast? I have my sisters graduation/eighteenth birthday party soon and I really want to feel good about myself! What exercise should I do to lose the fat ? After the fat is gone I will continue working out and doing crunches and ab workouts. I already do hula hooping for an hour a day...is that good? I want to start running but every time I start running I give up after a few days. How can I keep myself from not running? How fast will I see results if I start running and hula hooping every other day for an hour? Thanks!!!

There's nothing wrong with not wearing a bikini, there are plenty of cute tankinis and one-pieces out there! Ab exercises are a good way to get a toned stomach, so you're on the right path! Cardio and eating healthy will help, and if hula hooping is a good exercise for you, then stick with it! If you don't like running, find another workout you love, like dancing or visiting a gym. Finding an exercise you enjoy will make working out a ton better! And don't worry if you don't see results right away -- working out takes time, so don't get discouraged!

Hey girl,

That sounds like a lot of crunches -- it will take a few weeks to see results, so don't hurt yourself! Besides ab exercises, cardio and eating healthy are great. Good luck, and remember that all bodies are different, so don't be too hard on yourself!

Hey Girl!

Getting stretch marks is normal-they happen when your skin changes shape too quickly, so this could be happening because you're growing! That being said, will first appear a reddish, brown, or purple color  and this is the time to treat it. If you put cocoa butter on them, this should help reduce their appearance.

Hey Girl,

Controlling what we eat can be difficult. First, wake up with a big breakfast. It will set you up for the rest of the day. Have a filling lunch and dinner, as well. Have one snack in between both. Skip the chips, and try nuts or fruit. They'll keep you full. When you feel yourself starting to pig out, ask if you're really hungry or just bored. Understanding why you're eating will help you cut back.

Hey Girly!

There are plenty of fun summer exercises to slim down your thighs and tummy. Try swimming! Staying afloat uses nearly every muscle in your body and works wonders for your core. To tone up thighs, grab a kick board and do some free style kicking. You'll feel the burning in your thighs in no time. You can also try hiking and biking. Not enough time? Do some good old crunches and lunges.

SO I have like a tiny bit of flab on my stomach and I'm working on getting rid of it. I've been dancing for SO many hours a week at the studio, and I do barre everyday. I do cardio at school for P.E. and at home and I stretch. If I add these excersises, do you think I can tone up for the summer? Thank you! (:

Hey girl, practice practice practice! Find a few friends who want to practice the same sport and you all can play together. Its easier to practice with others than by yourself. If you want to get even better maybe find a trainer who can help you. I did that back in high school when I was really serious about soccer.

 Hey girl, its a rumor, crunches do not lead to a flat stomach. Running does. Crunches only add muscle underneath. So the best thing to do is run a mile everyday or every other day, and maybe do 20-30 crunches (but do not work the same muscle group everyday), just to build that layer of muscle. Planks also help build core muscle. That's what I do! =] Working out is a long term routine, usually they say it takes about 4 weeks for yourself to notice a difference and a couple months for others to notice a major difference. It feels great to be healthy! =]

She's even yelled at me for eating dinner (It was only an apple!) How do I lose weight fast? I play soccer but it doesn't help. Hey girl, first of all remember you are beautiful just the way you are! Don't listen to those people who will put your down and be negative. if you're really concerned, working out and eating right if the best way to go! Create a work out routine with running, and lifting weights. If you look up the website for Livestrong Fitness, it helps you put together a healthy plan. Most importantly, you need to eat! Your body needs those proteins for energy. Eat out of all of the food groups and make sure you eat all meals, breakfast lunch and dinner. Stay with it girl, you got it! =] I play soccer too, so kudos to you!

I have a problem, I recently lost80 lbs and because i was really overweight but i still feel fat. People tell me i'm too skinny and i dont believe them. Ive gained about 5-10lbs back and now i feel really self concience and afraid to eat. Iwanna get back down to 104. I have a really ugly stomach too, the extra skin hangs and its gross. I am so self concience about my body and need to lose more weight but my mom wont let me skip meals or anything even though i gained weight back. i dont know what to do

Hey babe,

If you follow a healthy regiment, then definitely.  You should try your best to workout with both strength training and cardio 2/3 times a week, 4 at the most.  Be sure to give yourself a day of rest in between workouts.

But, more important than that you need to eat healthily!  What your body comes to be is based off what goes in it!

You really should do your best to not think that way.  I can't imagine it's terribly healthy unless you're told so by a doctor.  Personally, I don't even like to look at y weight.  If you're happy with how your body looks and feels and your doctor has told you that you're healthy, then you have no reason to worry about you weight.

That's the way I see it at least, weight is a huge burden when it's not used in medicinal terms.  After all, it doesn't differentiate between what is healthy muscle and unhealthy weight.

Okay so this is kinda weird- i have almost no belly fat (my mom, a yoga teacher, says it's just skin, but i think i have a bit of fat there. Smile) and when i'm hungry, my stomach is tight and flat and looks great. but when I eat, even if it's just a little bit, my stomach looks like it's bloated. I usually eat hearty meals- and i mean a LOT of food. lately, I've been TRYING to stop eating AS MUCH (still eating most on my plate, though) and trying to eat healthier, but it's like my stomach has grown larger from the inside. I say again- I have pretty much no fat there. So I"m wondering if this is normal and what I can do to fix it. Thank you so much for all of your help, we all appreciate you guys so much! <3




Hey Gal!

This sounds pretty normal to me. When you eat, your stomach expands and may look a little bloated, especially since you eat pretty big meals. That's where the term "food baby" comes from. If you're trying to eat less, you're probably still hungry when you're finished. That's why you think you're stomach may have grown from the inside. So yes, this is completely normal. You have nothing to worry about!

How to get in swimsuit shape: Look in the mirror and tell yourself you're beautiful just as you are and then put on a swimsuit. Simple as that. Being healthy is important, but there is no "bikini body" or perfect shape to be in to wear a swimsuit because everyone is different and beauty comes from the inside.

Everyody's body is different.  You likely just have a lighter skin tone so they show thorough.  The same thing happens on my body too.  You get used to it after a while.  After all, it's not like anybody really cares that they can see them so you should feel free to wear shorts.

Hey gal!

Sounds like loads of people are trying to slim down for the summer! I've got some great tips for you, but they may take more than a few weeks. Stay on track and you'll see results soon. Staying healthy is the most important part. Finding healthy food in the summer is a cinch. There are loads of fruit carts everywhere. Make smoothies, sorbet, and even flavored water. It's all delish. Cut back on the unhealthy carbs. Stick to whole grains, and resist grease foods. If you don't like running, there are plenty other options. Try the bike at the gym (or use your own), hiking on a local trail, swimming in your local pool. Even cooler ideas? Kayaking, wake boarding, and even waterskiing are great.

I have an issue i always get distracted on the web...i am online skooled and it gets rlly difficult...i check my email and then start IMing with my friends...i finish at least 2 hours later than my sister who never gets distracted....HELP..what do i do? and also when i try to do a research paper i end up researching other things...UGH its so frustrating...HELP!! Hey Chica!

Eek-these days it's super easy to get distracted by the internet. The good news? You realized the problem! Way to go! There is plenty of software available that can help you out. You can set up blocks on certain internet sites during certain times in the day. Ask your parents about it. When you get distracted, just try to bring yourself back. Remember, you WANT to finish on time! You don't want to be stuck inside while your sister has all the fun. That's some good motivation!
