Awww, poor thing. If I had to give up sk8ing or ballet, I would absolutely die! I'm glad that Shawn has found other interests in her life to explore. Go Shawn! I'll be praying 4 u!

Aw... Jordyn Wieber lives two hours away and trains at my gym. She is the 2011 and 2012 world gymnastics champion and everybody thinks she's going to bring home the gold at the 2012 Summer Gymnastics Olympics. Go... Jordyn!!!

i'm really glad shawn is open to new success, but i'm really disappointed she's retiring! she grew up only 2 hrs away from me and to have a girl from iowa be able to achieve such great things was super inspiring. not to mention she's always seemed down to earth and super sweet. i <3 shawn johnson!

So I had a rash and my doc put me on meds that make me super hyper and im usually really calm... It's only for a week, but my grandparents are coming and i dont want to seem like im bouncing off the walls
yoga just energizes me and deep breathing only helps a little

Hey Girly!

Sorry about your rash- I hope your medicine is working. Explain to your grandparents why you seem so hyper. They'll definitely understand. Staying away from sugar and caffeine drinks will also help you out. Reading for a half hour each might will also calm ya down.

I have had my period for a while, but I am still irregular, and I know that. And usually I get my period after 3,4,5 days after I am supposed to. But tomorrow I am going on a huge hike with my class and then we are going swimming afterwards. And I think I might get my period tomorrow, and I still dont really know how to put in a tampon ( I have tried but it doesnt work very well) What should I do!?!?!?

Really the only dependent method for swimming on your period is using a tampon.  Have you tried looking at the little pamphlets in the box? Jordan S.

SOOOOO, I always feel like my thighs are really fat. because i was trying on swimsuits with my mom yesterday and i looked in the mirror and thought "Oh my god me legs are not lean!" are there any good exercises that can make my legs lean or skinnier really quickly?? Thanks! <3 Katie

 

Hey! just so ya know, girls’ bodies change  a ton during the teen years and weight gain is normal and restricting your diet drastically won’t actually help you lose weight. I will miss her soo much in gymnastics!!! I have a friend who used to be a gymnist but then she broke her growth plate and wasn't really comfortable anymore in anything so she quit. The funny thing is that her coaches were training her to possibly go to the Olympics one day!!!! I guess it's sad to think that if she had gone to Olymipics that I could have said that I know/knew an Olympic gymnast before she competed in the Olympics!!! Oh well I'm just happy that she made the right decision for her!

I feel the same way. I had to quit competitive swimming and soccer due to feet problems and asthma. I loved them both so much but I quit to protect my body. I will always miss these but I am better off for stopping.

Okay I have 2 questions.
1. I am the only kid who has my period through all my friends. I am in sixth grade (almost 7th) I am twelve years old, I am 5 ft and 2 inches tall, and I way 95-100 pounda. Am I a freak?
2. I am still pretty new with having my period, I have only had it like three times! So I know I am starting to get my period again because I found some blood and brown spots in my underwear! At school wednesday my class is going on an all day hike with no bathrooms! If I do get my period on the hike, what should I do? Especially if I bleed a lot this time!

 

hey! 1) Of course you're not a freak! That's exactly my age and weight when I got my first. 2) As for the hike, wear a super sized pad or tampon and maybe inform a teacher you trust so they can help you out if you need it. Good luck girl!
