I am going to Colorado for vacay and I really need some ideas of cute clothes to pack. The weather is supposed to be really nice and hot there. Also I am going into middle school and i want to look nicer and be more stylish. Any tips?




Hey girlie,

You wanna go with something that is comfy but also fun, so I would pack a few pairs of denim shorts with some brightly colored fitted tees. Mix in a couple flowy, girly blouses for more special looks. One sundress will be good to have too, just in case ya gotta be fancy! One pair of sandals and one pair of flats will be great too so you have variety. As for changing your style this year, keep up on our new Fashion articles (http://www.girlslife.com/category/fashion.aspx) - when you see something you like, save the image or write it down. That way, you can start to see what your style is and how you want it to grow!

HELP! i have to shopping for clothes for summer camp
(which i have been dreaming about this camp forever!) with my mom and she is impossible to work with! im 12 so i think im old enough to wear short shorts! But she insists on me wearing at least elbow length shirts and past the knee pants. that wont work because the camp starts in the middle of July! my best friend went last year and has seen my wardrobe. i know i could lend some of her cloths but she tiny and im a little bit bigger than average. oh, and now my mom is making me get thing (including under wear) At the thrift store! what do i do? she drives me crazy!!!!!




Hey girlie,

First off, if your mom is forcing you to shop at the thrift store, it's probably for a reason. Chances are, she needs to save money and doesn't have unlimited funds to spend on your summer clothes. Try to compromise with her on that one - tell her you completely understand why the thrift store is a good place to go and you want to help her shop on a budget, but you don't feel comfortable wearing used underwear. Ask her if you could go somewhere affordable to purchase new underwear (Target, Forever 21, Walmart) and buy the rest at the thrift store. She might be on board to compromise if you show her you're willing to get MOST of the stuff at the thrift store. Same with your camp wardrobe - compromise. She might want you to wait a little bit til you wear short shorts - and it might be a good thing, considering camp might be in the woods and there will be bugs like mosquitos, spiders, etc. It'll help protect your skin! But since you're covering up on the bottom, ask if you can wear old tee shirts that are a little bit more breezy. Explain to her how hot it gets in July at this camp and how much you'll be doing outside. Stay calm and tell her you don't want to overheat, and you want to be able to keep up with everyone else. <3 Just be mature and take it one thing at a time. You'll find a great balance that works for both of you!

so a couple of days ago i got a haircut and i got layers. im not too happy about the layers because it seems like it makes my hair a little frizzy and she cut off waayyy too much hair. i am soooo upset about this because my hair was the only part of my appearance that i actually liked and now i am just so insecure because i feel/look well... ugly. do you have any tips on gaining confidence. also how fast does hair grow?

Hey girl,

The great thing about hair is that it grows back, and eating protein and being healthy will help it grow even faster! Think of this as an opportunity to try new styles you couldn't master with longer hair, and your hair will be back before you know it. To be more confident, you could do something different with your makeup to draw attention to your face, and that will make you feel better about how you look! And I'm sure you look fine, we've all had bad haircuts!

Personally, I wouldn't wear that to the beach. I think it should be longer, so that it doesn't fly up in the wind. Haha!!
