My aunt's friend put a big henna on my hand and it was shaped in a big heart, it was really pretty!!!!!!MY FIRST HENNA

by Janaye2001 on 6/6/2013 9:45:52 PM

So my best friend is Indian so she does henna alot. Once I went to her house and her mom said she would do it for me if I wanted. I thought it smelled weird and was a strange greenish blackish color at the time, but my friend convinced me and her mom did a really pretty pattern. And when I washed it off, it was a beautiful red and had a good smell. Smile

by skygirl1 on 10/29/2012 9:38:22 PM

that looks cool but where do you get the henna powder?

by gabby2751 on 10/15/2012 6:08:32 PM

I'm indian so I do this ! It NEVER STAINS, is totally painless, and Definatly temporary!
You can just go to an Indian store and pick up a cone full of it, but DIYing is so cool!

Helen S-
Look online for places to buy it near you, just search where are stores for that in your area with a search engine like google. Also , ask a parent or adult for help. Hope you find it!
TIP: Craft stores?

by livvieGirl10 on 7/9/2012 3:31:29 PM

hey! I'm not sure, you should try asking a parent or other adult who knows that area Smile

I get ready-made henna and I wear henna every year for Eid(it's this celebration for Muslims) and other celebrations. While it's drying, it's not the best(or worst) smell in the world, but really it's not that bad. You wait till it dries which could even take overnight if you did it a little late. The color on your hands really depends on how long you leave it on. I love leaving it on for a long time to get it be a dark maroonish-orangeish color. Every time I wear it, I get at least 2-3 people asking what I have on my hands, but I really don't mind actually Smile

Catholic Faithful Teens is for Catholic girls to talk about God, Jesus, and our religion. Anyone who is Catholic, wants to become Catholic, or wants more info about us can join. There will be topics to talk about and ways we can spread our word. For those who go to Spanish church I can write it in Spanish also. The Bible is going to be a huge part of the club. There will be quotes and verses posted regularly.

by glittergirl4321 on 6/25/2012 2:03:39 PM

for everyone complaining about not having henna powder, you guys seriously need to calm down. This post was made so that you could go put and get this stuff if you wanted,I'm Indian, yet I don't have these ingredients either. It would cost way more to go out and buy ready made henna, if you don't live in india, for one cone (cover about one or 2 hands) its $8-$10. I've really wanted to get my hands done but its so pricy, THANKS GL for posting this! Laughing

Yeah, like everyone has henna powder in their medicine cabinet. Wait, I think my mother actually does. But, well, that's my mother for you.

I haven't been able to sleep lately. Is it because of technology or I'm eating to much?

Hey girl, there are lots of things that could mess up your sleeping pattern. Just try to get out and active during the day, skip naps, and eat right. Don't sleep in too late, and don't stress. Ya should be back to normal in no time. Smile

by butterflygirl14 on 6/19/2012 5:09:53 PM

I sooo want to try this! My mom has some henna, she uses it to dye her red. All i need is eucalyptus oil, but they probably have in the indian store she goes to for henna, but we might have the oil! my mom has lots of types of oils. p.s. my mom is not an indian person, just to clarify.

by Genny101 on 6/19/2012 2:13:58 PM

it's not just people with an indian background who own henna powder. and it doesn't take much effort to go to a market and by some. Carrie R.

by horselover3000 on 6/18/2012 10:00:42 PM

by princess3156 on 6/18/2012 8:12:25 PM

is there any fun stuff i can make in summer camo with the stuff available at the camp? (they have the equivalent of your basic art kit)

by Prim on 6/18/2012 2:01:44 PM

oh okay, let me just go to the kitchen and pull out the henna powder my non-indian parents keep in our house. then I just need to go outside to get the eucalyptus oil in the garage. come on girlslife! It'd be cheaper to just buy henna pre made!

by kpianoplayer on 6/18/2012 1:03:15 PM

I'm going on a long trip and I'll be going with 4 other girls who are a grade younger than me and my mom and their mom in their big red van.Driving up and back will both take 2 days and we'll have to stay in 1 hotel each way. I don't know what to do so I don't get bored! I have an ipod nano and touch and a kindle fire but I wont have wifi. And I think I might have to share stuff with the other girls. What can I do that will be fun for all of us?

Hey girl!

Load some games onto your iPod touch. Multiplayer games will be fun for all of you girls to play. Get some good books for your kindle. You could also get some magazines to flip through. Anything you can think of! Just have fun!

I think Henna is more of a cultural thing. Not "hippy" or "boho". Just saying. But it is very pretty, I've seen it on some people's hands before. Maybe I'll try this!

by Glitterheart16 on 6/16/2012 11:18:28 PM

yes, let me go grab some henna powder from the pantry... seriously, itll be cheaper for a professional at bellydance camp to do one for me!

by YayaYuiki on 6/16/2012 10:25:30 PM

what exactly is henna, where am i supposed to get it, and who has eucalyptus oil sitting around the house?!?!?!?!?!? GL, I love you, but please think about this kind of stuff before you post it.

by loppyears12 on 6/16/2012 6:16:18 PM

Sure, let me go grab the eucalyptus oil from my kitchen cupboard... NOT! What the heck is that stuff anyway? Where do you get it?

by DaNcInGQu33N9812 on 6/16/2012 5:58:37 PM

Hey kaylove12, be sure to pack everything you think you're going to need. Of course essentials like soap, underwear, clothes, brush, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste. Don't forget fun stuff like your laptop and charger, cell phone and charger, iPod or mp3, and camera. It may be good to pack a few different outfits, just in case you change your mind about what to wear. Bringing a sturdy pair of boots or tennis shoes will be beneficial when walking through the woods. Have fun girl! Xoxo

So I'm leaving for camp on Monday and I'm not completely sure how to pack. It's not actual camping because we can shower every day, we stay in heated cabins, and we have a 5 star chef. If you could give me some pointers that would be great!! Lynae P.

I use henna to dye my hair red, I order it from and click on Ancient Sunrise Body Art Quality Henna for Hair then scroll down until I get to Henna for hair red, then click on add to cart. It is $16 and $12 shipping, so its better to buy in bulk. There is henna for hair brown, blonde, and black but they are not that good and black is supposed to be bad for your scalp. Anyway, henna is the only all natural hair dye, but if you get it on your skin the place where is was will look orange for about a week so FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! IF you have dark hair it won't work on your hair. I mix it with lemon juice, then I apply it to my hair and wrap my hair in plastic bags and let it sit for three hours, then rinse out. It is a lot of work but the results are AMAZING! For the first few days your hair will be BRIGHT but the henna will settle. It is easier if you get a friend to help! =D If you have any questions leave a comment on my profile! =D =D =D =D =D

For people worried about it staining, once it dries and starts to flake off (which takes a couple hours, at least. And don't pick it off!!!) then it won't stain anything. I've had henna done a lot, and even walking around an amusement park in 100 degree weather plus humidity, it didn't stain anything. (except for one time it rubbed off on my shorts while still wet, but it washed out.) Just do it in the middle of the day, that way it has time to dry before you go to sleep or shower. Oh, and don't wash over it! Be really careful when washing your hands not to get soap on the tattoo, or it won't last as long as it should. Lynae P.

Hey susmita24, I understand why your annoyed that everyone is getting henna tattoos. It is something that belongs to your culture and has an important meaning. I'm sorry that people don't understand that. Xoxo

I have a complaint bout this. This henna or yu can say mendhi aren't tattoos, they are wore for holidays for Hinduism, lyk how I am a Hindu. These aren't hippy stuff, it's decorations for your hand specially during WEDDINGS!! HINDU WEDDINGS! If yu still don't get it, go look up Hinduism, henna/mendhi online...Smile Also instead of making henna( WHICH AINT HOMEMADE..SORRY 2 BURST YUR BUBBLES)...havve relatives living in India and they'll send yu henna/mendhi from there! ;] It's very simple tht way, no offense! Lynae P.
