At my school shorts have to be longer than finger tip, which is hard for me ex: I'm taller than my mom and my finger tip is half a finger below her. I have a really hard time finding shorts (Basketball shorts can be too ''short'') and the ac is broke 90% of the time so it's really hot in class. Are there any shorts you can suggest for school?

 

Hey chicky! Since I don't know your body type, I can't suggest any shorts in particular, but why not get adventurous and make your own cut offs before school starts?  Also, maxi skirts and dresses look great on tall girls!  They'll keep you cool if you can find ones that are long enough.  xoxo

Thanks for answering my other question! But I have another one.
I keep getting my discharge and I get all the signs about getting my period. But I never do get it. I've had the signs for about a year. It's getting really annoying because once my mom was coming home so my friend I decided to clean my room so she could sleep over. She was bringing my laundry downstairs and saw my underwear. Before it didn't bother me, but the discharge dried so it looks gross. My friend screamed. It was so embarrassing. What can I do because I'm having a church trip coming up soon and they assigned a group of boys to do the laundry for everyone since they got in trouble!

 

Hey chicky! Bring a few panty liners with you (since you don't have your period, borrow a couple from your mom).  Wear them and they'll catch the discharge instead of your underwear.  If you don't want to do that, encourage the girls to keep their underwear with them and not let the boys do it.  Who wants their underwear in the hands of boys, anyway?  That way, you can keep your underwear in a bag and you don't need to hand it over to the guys.  Good luck! xoxo

I'm 5'3 and 11. I'll be 12.
I'm like a ruler bit with thicker thighs because I do soccer.
I've been described as a hipster-styled girl.
I'll be in 7th grade
I want something to show that I'm different than any other newbie. And that I have great style.I have a smaller bust: 32A

It seems like your thighs are probably not as bad as you're making them out to be. Running is great for your thighs. Also, you should do lunges or squats. But the best thing you can do is to eat healthy and not worry!

Ok, so I just moved, going to a brand new school with brand new people an no uniform! Smile I want it find the perfect outfit for me that's super cute and makes a great first impression (but I deffinetly don't want the outfit to say "I'm trying to hard, or I think I'm better than you") Is that crazy? As for my fashion and style goes toward just about anything.
I'm a tall girl going into the eight grade. I guess you could say I was curvy? My top is bigger (32B) and I have a small waist. My thighs are a little thicker (since I'm a runner). I'm just looking for a great outfit for my bod.

@candyprincess97: they do put stuff for curvy girls, almost all the time. they have it on this one too. in the june/july issue they had a section for swimsuits for curvy girls. Maybe you just haven't seen their articles or how-to's for curvy girls.

hey! try a wrap shirt with rouching to accentuate your waist. You could really pull off a basic short or something with a little color Smile

Have you talked to her and asked her why? If it's just the fact that you're showing too much skin, could you compromise on getting Bermuda shorts instead of short shorts? If not, you'll have to respect mom's decision and then work around it. Pair skinny jeans with open sandals and a colorful floral tank top. That way, you're showing a little skin and still dressing summery...while also working with mom's rules <3

I have reaaaallly long lengs and a ruler shape. I can never find a cute pair of shorts in a good length! I hate bermuda shorts and if they're too short my legs look really thin and spidery. All my shorts are cutoffs because I can make my own length.
What kind of shorts would look best on me and where could I find 'em?

 

Hey chica, There are lots of shorts between a bermuda short and a short short, so go online and look on any store you or your mom usually shop at. Try getting something a little looser in the leg to give you a little curve.  On the other hand, cutoffs are a great idea! They go with everything and they are a great way to repurpose old jeans!

I think I have a pear shape (I got no boobs, but I've got nicely filled out hips and thighs and a really big butt.) but I really don't know. I'm only fourteen, and I'm 5'0 tall. I usually wear a size eleven or so. Do you know of a good type of shorts for me to wear? I think the article was a little too broad for me. I don't know if I should go with the pear shape flattering Aeropostale shorty shorts, or the Levi's for curves.. Help?? Smile thanks




Hey babe, go for the curvy Levi's, since they'll give your legs some length, too. Either shape will probably work for you, though, when you're trying to figure out what'll be best for your lower bod.

Help! Last Monday my braces bracket became loose and it is still caught on my wire. I couldn't get an appointment until tomorrow, and it has almost been two weeks! My toothe looks really strange and I think I might have tooth decay from having it loose for so long! I am really annoyed because I couldn't get an appointment until tomorrow because the ortho office took a whole week off for the 4th Frown. I think my tooth is now ruined , can they fix this?! It would have been fine if I went last week but now my tooth is ruined :c!




Hey chicky, don't worry - they'll get you all sorted out at your appointment. Cavities take a long time to form, so 2 weeks won't hurt ya. Just sit tight, and let those docs do what they do best.

I shop at stores that have generally small sizes like Heritage or Charlotte Russe, but when it comes to jeans and shorts nothing there really fits. So do you happen to know any stores that have smalls sizes and high waisted shorts?

I read all of your articles, glue some of the coolest tips to my binder, and even would sneak a read in your magazine during my freshman year classes. But I am also a 4'11 biracial girl. I am spanish,white, and african american. I have noticed on your websites and magazines there aren't a lot of diversity. Not a lot of mixed girls or dark skinned or other races. I feel like if you write some articles on certain months like african american month and so forth. I still love your articles, but some tips don't apply to me. Like hair advice and certain outfits. Body shape depends less on your height and more on your proportions - are you bigger around the hips? (< Pear shape) Or bigger around your boobs? (< Apple shape) Are you about the same on top and bottom with a defined waist in between? (< Hourglass) Or pretty straight up-and-down? (< Ruler) Smile

Okay so this year I gained 19 llbs, grew 4 inches, and am starting to fill in to a healthier weight. I don't know if it's normal to gain this much although last year my brother gained 26 llbs. Is this normal??

MOD MOD MOD!! i'm moving over the summer, and i'm really nervous. i'm going into high school, so nobody's gonna know i'm new. i'm really shy, and awkward. how can i make friends really fast, so i don't have to sit alone, or feel left out?
also, i wanna start bringing a tote and a purse to school, instead of a backpack. is that a good idea, or not? and do you know any good places i can find some?

 

Hey! To make friends just be social. Sit with new people and talk to them. Start by introducing yourself and finding out about their interests and telling them yours. It may take a while or no time but trust me when I say if you keep trying to meet new people persistently you will make friends. I like carrying a purse, but I don't know if it's a replacement for a backpack. books can be he-vy. On the other hand, urban outfitters sell some really cute backpacks and there are definitely purse/backpack hybrids out there. But if you're still in the market for a handbag keep your eye out in thrift stores and target. It's also fun to decorate a simple canvas tote yourself. you can tie dye it or use a sponge and a stencil to paint your own design. get creative!

I just bought this uber cute tie! I'm usually pretty good, if I do say so myself, at putting together cute outfits... But this tie I just can't seem to figure out how to wear the tie in a cool, hip way that won't make me look too much like a business woman or a school girl. So it's been a bit difficult because it could easily look go either way, but I don't want it to look like I'm dressed up or like I'm wearing a school uniform. I want it to look almost casual but cute, maybe with some sort of graphic tee? I dunno! Help please!

To avoid the school girl look, don't pair it with a pleated skirt or anything uniform-looking. Try it with some denim cutoffs and a sheer top for a non-preppy look.

Next time you go shopping, just look for clothes that fit the new look you have in mind. You can search online first for inspiration and ideas of which stores carry what clothing. Do you have a friend whose style you love? maybe you two can go shopping together and she can show you her favorite spots.

It just refers to shape and length of your legs. For instance, the shorts for "short legs" are those that would look best on girls with... short legs. The curvy leg shorts would look best of those girls with fuller legs, etc.
