I am twelve years old . I turn thirteen in July . My mom did not start her period until she was fourteen . Today I experienced dierreah. It's not normal for me to have it .
My throat is hurting . But , that's it . Is that a sign of my period ? I have had discharge for two years . It started around this time . I have had pubic hair down and up there sense about this time also . I have had light cramps on and off today . I am wearing a panty liner for my discharge . It has a yellowish tent to it . My dads side started early (women ) but could it be it ? I carry around pads in my purse . Any advice ? Please reply soon Smile

 

Hey girlie, the discharge and pubic hair are both signs of your period. But feeling sick isn't. You might be coming down with some kind of cold or flu. Make sure you're drinking lots of fluids to try to keep yourself healthy and fight this off.

hey! Those are all symptoms, but everyone gets it at different times. It sounds perfectly normal to me, but your doctor is the real authority on stuff like this. Sometimes it's genetic. When did your mom get hers?

Hey girlie, if you have any other women in your life like an aunt, grandmother or friend's mom that you're close to, talk to them and they'd be happy to help you out. If not, tell your dad you want to go to the store with him. It could be the grocery store or a store like Wal-Mart or Target. Pick out what you want and put it in the cart. If your dad wants to he'll talk to you about it, but even if he doesn't want to talk, he'll definitely buy them for you.

Hey! yeah those are all symptoms. You're going through puberty right now and it's natural to feel nervous about that. Just remember that your body's changing and that's how it's supposed to be. you can do it girl!

If you do trust her and want to tell her who you like, you definitely can, but don't feel like you have to just because she told you about her period! Well so I have mostly every thing on ur list. I am having very bad sinus issues right now, I am suddenly eating more than normal, my friend asked me a question and I burst into tears and forgot that my class was going to the library. I don't have discharge (at least I don't think that's what I find in my underwear) or acne. My mom got her period when she was my she around the same time I am now. I'm 10 about to turn 11 if that helps. Anyway I was thinking would our periods still be similar even though she is a bigger women and I'm a skinny girl? You could be getting yours soon, especially if your mom got hers around your age too! She may have been the same size as you when she was your age...her body has just changed! You won't really know until you get it. Try preparing yourself with pads and/or tampons in your locker! Good luck girl!

I'm 11years old and I just had a really bad cramp I told my mom and she gave me some medicine for it and she told me to keep checking my underwear for blood and that she thinks I might be starting my period and I believe her because my boobs have been sore and swollen,I just had a cramp,and I have pubic hair growing down there and under my arms. My name is Hannah, and I am 13, almost 14. My middle school days are drawing to a close, and yet I haven't started my period yet. I have all of the signs and symptoms. I have had them for months. I've researched very possible symptom, and I have almost all of them. Moodiness, bloating, cravings, cramping, boob growth, pubic and underarm hair, and stomach problems. I don't know what's wrong with me. All of my friends have started, even my younger friends. I asked my mom and she said she started at the beginning of 8th grade. For me, 8th grade is almost over. my friend got her period at around 10 and she is now 13.
she period must be irreagular because sometimes she would miss a month in between. she told ber mom the other day that she didnt her her period yet and it has been a month. her mom ended up putting her on like a birth control pill!!! as her best frind i find this stupid. wont taking a birth control pill at such and early age cause ur body to be even more irreagular. i told her to research some stuff and show her mom but her mom didnt listen.her mom is even making her tell her stepdad about all of this which i find very inapporiate. do you have any advice? There might be more to the story than you can tell--some people take birth control to help regulate their period, so if your friend's doc prescribed it to her, I would trust their judgment and that there might be more than what you know. What medicine your friend takes is between her and her doc!

Hey girlie! I know this can be super stressful, but it's difficult to predict when your period will come. It's different for everyone. If you're already showing signs of puberty, though, it's probably not far off. I would try talking to your mom and asking her when she got her period; age of puberty is often similar among family members. Hope this helps!

Hey girl, it is VERY unlikely that you are pregnant due to that mishap. Periods are just late sometimes. They don't always fall on the exact same day, especially if you are active. Now if 2-3 weeks go by and you don't have it, I would talk to your gyno. But I'm sure you're fine.

It will be a little awkward to talk to your dad, but he'll still be able to help you because that is his job as a parent! So if it does happen, just tell him as soon as it does, and he'll be happy to buy you pads and whatever else you need.

Ok this is awkward but here goes. I am 11. I am always self conscience about myself. I am 5'7" and weigh 104 pounds. I can never be positive about myself. The worst of all, I started puberty. I am getting boobs and Mom won't let me get cups even though my boobs stick out of them. I got my period in November and then again on December but it is now February and I haven't seen it. My mom wasn't regular until after I was born, so don't worry that is completely normal. Smile One month you could have it.. then two weeks later again.. then 3 months later. Umm well let's see.. I never get ANY symptoms, and I'm almost 15 and I just got my period, a couple weeks ago). i never get cramps, or moods wings, or any of the symptoms everyone else talks about. Could it have something to do with that I do gymnastics? I usually train up to 6 hours a week, and I condition (like push-ups, sit ups, etc) everyday. I'm kinda confused, and I never got a "heavy flow" i think, there were 2 days in my period where it stopped randomly, then it came back. I also have had a VERY decreased appetite, so I just want to know if gymnastics has something to do with this.

That sounds normal for your first period, and I don't think your period would have anything to do with your appetite, but I'm not a professional so I would talk to your mom or a doc for an expert opinion!

So for the past two weeks, I have been feeling tired, getting cramps, and having trouble sleeping. I also have had stomach aches and head aches too. I started to think my period was coming, but I didn't know for sure. Anyways, today, from the time I woke up to now, I have been VERY tired (even though I got 10 hours of sleep.) and have been on an "emotional rollarcoaster" and I have midterms this week. I haven't gotten my period yet so I don't really know the exact signs. I also went to the doctors, since my mom thought maybe I was just getting sick. I wasn't sick (thankfully) but I still don't know... Am I going to get my period soon, and how do I handle it?

 

I think it might be your period soon. Either that or normal growing pains and puberty changes. However if you get your period just make sure you're stocked with pads and tampons! If you have the right materials at all times there's no need to be scared Smile good luck! xoxo kerra

Okay I'm a little freaked out about this and I didn't know what I should do. Well I'm 14 and in less than a week ill be 15. Anyways I have never had a period. a couple months back this white stuff started to come out of me and I'd have to wash underwear so many times because if this. Well today these awful pains were going on in my stomach. I actually had to stop myself for a minute until they passed on. Anyways after u got home from my basketball game I took a hot bath to help ease my stomach pains and this dark reddish brown stringy discharge like fluid was hanging out of that area so u got out and took toilet paper to just pull it out. I asked my mom and she said that I was probably getting my period and that it was just a blood clot. But after about 4 or 5 hours nothing else has came out. Should I be worried or is this just my period starting? Please please help.

So I'm 14 years old and I've been having my period since I was 12. Lately when I'm not on my period there's this clear gel that I thing is coming out of my vagina. What is it?? And am I in trouble?? I have to wear a panti liner even when I'm not on my period.

 

 

Hey Girl, occasionally a girl's period will be irregular. Especially at your age, its normal and could occur because of a change in diet, exercise, or growing. However, if it continues you might want to see a doctor. The clear stuff is discharge that you should be getting.

That could be a sign of getting your period, but I'm not sure. If you want to know more about your bod and when your period might be coming, you could talk to your doctor, but it's different for everyone, and it will come when your body is ready! In the meantime, I would keep a pad in your backpack or your locker in case you get it when you are at school.

Hey girl, it's really hard to tell. It comes at different times for everybody. I would just say keep some pads and tampons in your purse and backpack so if it happens, you're ready!

If your friends are making fun of you, that's not cool at all, because it's not something you can control and it's different for everyone! Your period will come when your bod is ready. Having cramps after eating might just be being bloated after eating. You can't really know when your period is coming, so just keep a pad in your locker or backpack in case you get it at school. Girls sometimes  get cramps before their period, which is different for each girl. They usually experience slight pain or discomfort in their lower abs or back.

Hey girlie, sometimes there are just differences in hormones. Your mom is a good predictor but not exact. Taking a bath or shower will be fine. You won't show noticeable amount of blood during that time so you'll be safe!

I know this can not be normal so I am just wondering what could possibly be wrong with me..?

It sounds like it might be blood clots, but I would talk to your doctor about your medication's effects on you to see what the doc thinks.

Hi i'm 12 1/2 and i'm supposed to get my first period between now and about 6 months. I was wondering if gaining wieght in your stomache area is normal? For a while now im been getting more belly fat. Its been making me really self concouis about myself. I only wear baggy shirts because of this, and now my closet is shrinking. I know it might just be more noticeable to me but ive been really starting to worry about it. I am very athletic. I play on 3 sports teams all year round except for winter (when i play 2) and i work out at a gym 2 times a week, i eat pretty healthy, and last time i saw my doctor she said i was at a healthy wieght. Knowing all that i kinda just wanted to hear from someone that its normal. And if it is when it will go away? Thanks! Sorry its long!




Hey girl, sometimes we can be our worst critics when it comes to our bods. Your bod is changing a lot so don't sweat any baby fat during the transition. Instead, keep doing what you're doing: exercising and eating healthy. You'll look your best inside and out with it. Your bod won't always look like it did before (which was that of a little girl's) but you've got some good habits worth keeping to keep it in its best shape.

Hey soccacheer, periods can be crazy. Irregular periods happen because your body is already changing as a teenager. It usually becomes regular three years after the first cycle. Some women have irregular periods because their bodies produce a lot of androgen, which is a hormone. Hey wesdelwarrior, one word: medicine. Ask your parents to get you some pain killers or call your doctor for recommendations. Also staying away from greasy foods on your period will help. Instead munch on fruits and veggies and drink water. Even laying on your side with your knees tucked in your chest will help. If you get it in class, ask to go to the bathroom, and when you have it, get your mother to write a note to all your teachers letting them know you won't be feeling well for the next few days and will need to go to the bathroom. No worries you're not their first female student to get their period in school. Just be sure to have pads in your purse or backpack, some medicine in case you get sick, an extra pair of bottoms, and some feminine wipes. You'll be fine chica. It's normal for your period to be irregular at first, so there's probably nothing to worry about, though you can talk to your mom or a doc to be sure. As for the pads, it won't be too awkward--your mom is a girl too and will understand that you need them!

Hey girl, this isnt exactly your period, it's more like a mini period that's gearing up to be the real thing. This is totally normal. You'll probably get a full blown period at any time now so be prepared. Stick a couple of pads in your backpack, purse and locker. And congrats, girly.

Every month for three months I've been getting cramps and spotting. I've asked other mods, and they all think my period will be coming very soon. Anyway, so I already had my mini-period this month, but it only lasted 2 days, unlike the two months before when the spotting lasted 4-5 days. The spotting this month happened on the fourth and fifth. It was kind of weird to me that it only lasted two days, but I was just like whatever. Then today I went to the bathroom at school and I had a lot of spotting on my underwear. They were all really little, but there were a lot. Then, I went to the bathroom after school (4 hours later) and there was more! This is probably the most spotting I've gotten so far. Is my period on it's way? Please help. I'm sick and tired of waiting for my period. My period is so dramatic.

 

Hey girl, your period does seem pretty dramatic haha and it's having a little bit of trouble deciding when's the right time to make a visit. But this is totally, completely normal. When you first start getting your period, it could be heavy or really light, come at random days, come and go and be a brownish or red in color. This is all normal. Eventually your period will make up its mind and become a heavier, more regular period. In the meantime, you might want to wear panty liners to save your underwear from some of that drama. Panty liners are just like really thin pads. You should also keep regular pads on you just in case. Stash a couple in your purse, backpack and locker. It's always good to be prepared! There's nothing we can do to hurry your period along, but while your waiting just remember that your totally normal and theres nothing wrong going on down there. If your still nervous, don't be afraid to ask mom, she's been through it before. A doctor can also help and they are there to listen.  Good luck!

Hey girl, it depends on what you have. Some heating pads come in packets and when you open them up, you sort of have to move it around and massage it to get the heat to work. Some are sort of like stickers that you peel off and place on the part you want to heat up. There are also electric heating pads that need to be plugged in. Read the directions on whichever one you have.

Hey girlie, I think it's unlikely that there's something wrong. You're still young and some girls don't get their periods until they turn 15 or 16. If it's something that you're really concerned about, you might want to consider seeing a doctor.

At the beginning of the month, I had five days of spotting and cramps. The thing about that is I'm not sure if that was my first period, because I'm not sure how much blood is considered your period? Then, this month, I got one day of light brown discharge which has never happened to me before. After the discharge, I had like one spot of blood the next day. My question is: was this my period? So I talked to my doctor last week and she said I could get my period any time now, and now all of these things are happening to me X1000, it's like, i just don't know what do do with myself! It's totally possible for your period to come right now, but we can't guarantee that it will. Every girl gets her period at a different time during puberty - some will have discharge for only a month, others for 2+ years before their first period comes. Same with your boobs - some girls are more fully developed when their period comes, while others still have lots of growing/changing left to do. I wish we could predict when you'll get your period, but even a doctor can't predict it! In the meantime, read up on periods so you're totally prepared when yours comes. And try to be patient! Discharge and breast growth are great signs that you're healthy and going through puberty normally - everything will happen when your bod is ready <3333

Tomorrow is my first day as a freshman...and mother nature decided that it was my lucky week! Frown since tomorrow is the first day, we start by going to home room for like 2 hours to get our sceduel and locker number. then we go to all of our regular classes 1-7. First off, you should wear a pantyliner on the first day with your tampon just in case - it'll protect your undies against leaks so there aren't any major panic moments! Next, on my heaviest days I usually have to change my tampon about every 3 hours. But you might have a heavier or lighter flow, so you kinda have to listen to your body and check it often so you get into a routine. Based on your schedule, try to go about that often (every 3 hours) so there aren't any surprises and you'll be just fine! Smile

Hey chica! Not knowing when your period is coming sometimes and then knowing other times is completely normal, just not so fun. It's also normal for you not to get your period on a regular basis yet. As for the rest of it I would definitely talk to your mom more and express your concern! Maybe seeing the doctor would be a good idea! (i dont think the mod i was talking to is online anymore so, here is my story again: i got my first period today, and my dad isnt home so hes picking up some pads when he gets back from work, the only thing that i could find in my house were tampons, so i tried using them, it hurt so like the other mod said to do im using toilet paper). But now my dad just called and he said its impossible to come home before 10pm so i dont think that the toilet paper will work, because my period just got heavier, so i tried using tampons again. I can get the applicator in just fine but everytime i push the actuall tampon in i feel light-headed and dizzy. What else can i do to make it go in easier? Thanks Smile

If you’re at your wits end with tampons, stuff some paper towels in your undies and wait for dad to get home with some pads. They are much easier! Try a nice hot shower to pass the time. The hot water will help with cramps and distressing and you won’t have to worry about blood in the shower!

Hey girlie! You have to relax and push through the discomfort.  Putting a tampon in the first time is pretty uncomfortable, so you might just have to push through it.  I know relaxing is silly advice for the awkwardness of putting in a tampon, I know, but when you are tense, it makes it hard to go in.  Make sure you have the skinniest tampon you can find.  Do you have neighbors your age you know really well or a friend who lives within walking distance?  If so, see if they can lend you a pad or pantyliner.  xoxo

I was going to put a pad on but all we have in the house is tampons ( they were my sisters before she moved out) and i was never taught to use them or taught about my period because my mom died after i was born. Hey girl! I'm sorry you have to go through your first period without your mom around, that must be really hard for you.  Your dad knew this was going to come eventually, and depending on how old your sister was when your mom died, he might have already gone through it.  Call your dad and tell him you're going to need him to pick up pads and panty liners on the way home from work.  Ask nicely, he might be embarrassed, but I'm sure he'll do it anyway.  Then, look in the tampon box, there are usually instructions. If not, there are instructions online (be careful when you search, look for instructions on the website of the tampon company).  Call your sister, she might be able to help you out to and give you some moral advice.  If you're worried, talk to an aunt, grandmother, or a friend's mom who you are close with. xoxo

Periods can be that long, but it's pretty unusual.  Tell your dad that you need to talk to your mom about something and call her.  Tell him "it's a girl thing" and he'll understand.  Explain the situation to your mom, and she'll know whether you should call a doc or not.  If so, explain you need to go to the doctor to your dad, and I'm sure he'll get you where you need to go. xoxo

I'm about to turn 14 and I think I got my period but I'm not sure. At the very beginning of August I had spotting and cramps for 5 days. The spotting started heavy (like lots of little smears and dots) then got lighter(only one or two dots). The thing is, I've heard periods are sometimes very light for the first time (like just a few spots of blood). This was the first time I ever spotted or cramped. If this was my period then I'm supposed to get it again at the end of the month... And that's the first or second day of school! What do I do? I'm not sure if the blood was enough to be a period. Hey girl! Check out the drugstore for scented pads.  Try wearing a panty liner instead of a pad- it's smaller, so you can wear it regularly.  As long as you are changing your underwear, though, you don't need to wear a pad. xoxo

But when I had my physical when I was 11 my doctor took a look down there and said I should get my period by 12. My mom got hers when she was 12 too. Hey, I have a question...
So my periods are irregular, and I know I need to tell someone about it. I have been getting them twice a month since January, but they have been irregular since I started last summer. I don't know who to tell, I'm not that into talking with my mom about it and I can't just tell her I need to go to the doctor because then she would know that something was up. I have to get a physical for my parents insurance before october, should I just tell my doctor then? But how do I bring it up? I cryed about it last night, I'm concittering calling my friend tonight and ask her what I should do. She is a really good frien of mine and the only person I have told about my problem. I think if I tell her, maybe she could help me talk to someone about it...but what do you think? Also why are my periods so out of wack? Do you think it's a hormone imbalance, or something else? Hey girl! Periods are out of whack for the first year or two of your period, anyway, but if you are really concerned, then you can wait until your physical to talk to your doc.  Yes, it'll be annoying to wait, but I don't think anything is REALLY wrong with you.  A lot of girls get spotting (like a lighter period) about halfway between their periods, so if one of your periods is SUPER light, that might be it.  Don't panic- stress messes with your hormones and that can affect your period, too.  Just tell your doc that your periods have been strange and you're getting them more frequently- they'll know the right questions to ask.  xoxo

I posted something earlier and i took your advise to talk to my mom about stuff i had in my undies. i had no idea how to explain it so i showed her my undies which was really awkward. My mom has been always easy to talk to and understands when im nervous to ask her something but i asked her what it was and she came up with some excuse saying the greenish brown spots were mold and the red dots were juice. Then she threw it away and ended the conversation. I dont know if she just wasnt prepared to talk about it with me or doesnt want to admit the fact that her little girl is growing up. But i was nervous because another time i had blood in my undies and it was from a wedgie when jumping on my bed. So i was nervous it was gonna be something stupid but now im scared because i dont know if i had my first period or not! Sorry this is long!

She said that I have a tiny piece of skin up there and it breaks when I have sex but how do I break it to put a tampon in?

I have all that puberty stuff, so I knew my period was going to be heee soon, BUT, no period on Thursday. on Friday I was babysitting when i went to the bathroom and found a teeny tiny red dot on my undies. there was nothing when I wiped. But i forgot about it cuz i thiught it was just thread or lint. Then on Saturday night I went to the bathroom and found about 3-6 little red dots and some red smears but they were all little. I also got cramps that night. But nothing happened today! No period, or anythung else. Just a whole bunch of discharge, but Ive been getting SOOOO much discharfe lately. My boibs have been sore. Hey LOLGirl109, yep while discharge is annoying it is normal. You could always wear a pantyliner, which is like a really really small and thin pad that goes in your underwear. It keeps the discharge from staining your underwear. You can find them for cheap at CVS, Rite-Aid, Target, Wal-Mart or any grocery store. Hope this helps! Xoxo

What could my doctor do about my irregular periods anyway? Please help me, I'm scared.

 

Hey chica! Your physical will probably be about the same, though the doctor may feel your breasts for lumps.  If you want, you can ask your mom to leave the room before you change and tell your doctor about your periods.  If she doesn't want to leave, you can always just focus on telling your doctor.  Not telling someone because you think something might be wrong isn't going to help you, Your doctor may put you on medicine to help regulate your periods or he may wait to see if they regulate themselves.  Irregular periods are SUPER common.  Getting your period twice as often as usual is much less worrisome than not getting it.  Either way, talk to your doctor and they will be able to help.  xoxo

I'm sorry, I didn't know where to put this. I'm seriously questioning my mental health right now. I'm getting so stressed out about school (because of bullies) and it's the middle of the summer. I'm fine, but then I think about it or something happens over the internet and I just feel depressed. I really don't know how to deal with this. I told my mom I wanted to see a therapist or something, but she just thinks I'm being overdramatic. Thinking about school makes my heart fludder and it makes breathing hard. If you have to change your pad on a hike, just tell everyone you're going to the bathroom. They won't know the difference! Don't let that keep you from having fun Smile

Hey Jordan,

Usually brown discharge is a sign that your period is on its way! Lots of periods start off super light (with brown discharge) and then get heavier over a couple days. Keep an eye on it - if it's your period, it'll probably turn brighter red and get heavier <3

If you have brown discharge right now, there's a very good chance your period could follow. It's normal for periods to start off REALLY light with brown discharge, then get heavier over a day or two. Keep an eye on it and you'll know soon enough! <3

My doctor says I should be getting it soon, and I felt really bad cramps, but then they went away and I haven't seen any blood!! Hey girl!  Your first period is usually a little more than just a tiny spot.  It was probably nothing, so no need to panic.  You might be gearing up to get your period, so stay attuned to your body.  If you start to feel cramps in your lower tummy or feel more bloated than normal, it might be your period coming around. xoxo

Why are you scared? If this IS your period, it's totally normal! It's nothing to panic about Smile But since you haven't gotten anything brown/red since yesterday, chances are you just got a cut down there and it started to bleed. That can happen from all sorts of things, like wiping too much/too hard after you go "#2." Just keep an eye on it - if you start bleeding again and it gets heavier/more frequent, it's probably your period. But it's not anything to be shy about! Just tell mom something like, "Hey mom... I think I have my period." This could definitely be your period, or your body might just be getting ready for your first period. It's a good idea to keep a liner down there just in case. If nothing happens for a few days, you can stop wearing the liner. Your first period will most likely be pretty light, so no need to worry. Talk to your mom or a trusted adult for more advice if you need it

Hey chica, definitely don't put a tampon in when you don't have your period. That's bad for you, and it'll probably hurt a lot. Just bring a lot of extra tampons on your trip so that you don't have to worry about going through a bunch on your first time. And don't forget the pads, too, in case you can't get it.

Don't worry about swimming with your period- just try putting in a tampon.  Your period might have just been late (there are a hundred reasons why it happens) and once you start stressing about it being late, it throws off your body's rhythm and takes even longer to get your period.  xoxo

Your monthly cycle can be really inconsistent at first-- and even years later. Don't worry about it. If it bothers you, you can ask your doctor for recommendations.

I always get a painful pimple when my period is about to come. If I'm really diligent in my skin care around the time it comes, then it really isn't that bad. I'll probably get one pimple on my chin or something. But if I slacked, then it would be worse.

I've had my period for a year and a half. It's been pretty regular, I usually get it every 28 days but my last two periods have showed up a week early. This is not very convenient for my busy schedule. Is there anything I can do to get it back to 'normal'? Birth control maybe? I'm turning 14 in 2 months.

Hey girl, sorry to hear that. You can bust your boredom with some good books, or get crafty by making bracelets. Maybe you can learn how to cook some new things, or spend more time with your sibs (if you have any). Try making up some playlists on your iPod for different parts of your day - waking up, working out, going to sleep, etc.

Hey chica, if you're comfortable wearing a bra to sleep, then that is totally fine. It's not gonna hurt you in any way. And sorry to tell you, but periods are just inconvenient most of the time, and there's nothing you can do. Hey girlie,

It's totally impossible to predict! I know, lame answer, right? But even your doctor can't know for sure when your period is gonna come. Everyone develops at a different pace. It's awesome that you're experiencing some of these signs (that's a good hint that you're healthy!), but discharge does usually come before your period starts. But then again, it doesn't for EVERYONE because everyone is different! It's really hard to tell. Just remember that it's totally healthy to start your period sometime before you turn 16 years old - you have some time before you should be concerned <3 Hang in there and, in the meantime, read up on all things "period" so you can feel super prepared when the big day comes!

i HATE the days leading up to my period. my face(and my back sometimes..ew) breaks outFrown and my boobs and pretty much the rest of my body is sore and i eat more and i have trouble sleeping and concetrating sometimes and i'm always tired and grouchy...and EMOTIONAL! Hey smiley.<3, yea it shouldn’t be that irregular. My period was the same way and I had to go to the doctor. Now I take birth control to regulate it, so that may be the solution for you. Head to the doctors and see what they recommend. Hope it gets better. Xoxo

Each month I write down how many days between the start of each period and it varies anywhere between 22-41.It's not a very big deal except for I am usually surprised when I do get it. That can be normal, but there's no harm in checking in with a doc or nurse! Exercise will help, as will drinking lots of water.

Normal periods can be up to a week long, so you are probably fine,  but you can talk to a parent or a doc if you are still worried to be safe!

I am fourteen in a month and I got my first period on wednesday. Then on thursday I wore a tampon to swim (which was no problem) and it was full. I took it out and showered, and then I got barely anything for the rest of the night. I thought it was over but then it became really heavy again today around lunch time, and then became barely anything once it became evening. Is this wierd? It is always heaviest after lunchish time. Thanks for any of the help

That sounds normal, especially for your first period. You will typically bleed less when sleeping since your feet are elevated. There's no harm in talking to your mom or a doc about it, though!
