Hey S,

I always feel better when I'm more prepared for the thing I'm trying! So talk to the coach of the team or the instructor - ask them what sorts of exercises or drills you should do in order to be the best for tryouts. Show your interest and try to get a sense of what it's like to be on the team. Then, work HARD and practice every day. Once tryouts roll around, you'll feel way more prepared - and even though the nerves will probably still be there (it's healthy), they won't be so bad Smile

Hey girly! It's a great idea for lunches to eat a lot of protein and avoiding lots of sugar! Sugar makes you want more, whereas protein gives you energy and will keep you fuller longer! i started cheerleading for my town a few weeks ago and i find that alf way through practice i get extrmely tired and need a water break every 15 minutes...i hve no idea why this happens. i exercise every day and practice 4days a week. could this be caused by the way i eat? is there something specific that i should be eating before practice to get energized? thnks!

I'm going into 8th grade trying out for a Jv sport for my highschool. Yesturday i had a physical test with some other girls so the coaches can see if were ready. you have to pass everything and i failed the 1.5 mile. and have to take it again tomorrow if i want to try out. Everyone else made it but me. and im really nervous for tom. Ive been working out so much. i just get mad that i didnt get it. and not i fee like the same things gonna happen again. any help?




Hey girl, that's great that you're aimin' high! Just focus on your goal when you're running, and try to push yourself as much as you can (safely). Tell yourself that after that run, it doesn't matter if you've got any energy left. Give it all you've got, and if you don't make the team, there's always next year. Maybe you can find another sport with less demanding tryouts.

Today was horrible, my friend was mean to me (not PMS ean, just MEAN), I was late to class, and the boys on the bus call me a cow. I was really sad when I came home, and I told my sister what happened, then she slapped me.. ?

 

hey! That is a really bad day, I am so sorry that all of those things happened! try to do something that makes you happy to take your mind off things. It's a cliche, but you'll feel better in the morning. Also, if those boys keep calling you names you should tell someone. That's not cool.

Hey girl--

You might be at a healthy weight and weight loss isn't necessary. Talk to your doctor or a nutritionist to figure out if you are at an unhealthy weight. If you are, they will help you design a diet and exercise plan to help you lose weight.

Hey Girl!

Try experimenting with some mascara and lipgloss. If you have blemishes you can try some concealer. For night time, try out some neutral colored eyeshadows.

My aunt said that if you make home made smoothies, without the ice, you gain weight, she did, and I started doing that for 4 months! I still weight the same, well, the doctor said I gained 2 pounds!!!!!!!!!Am I going to gain weight like this FOREVER!!!




Hey girl!

If you think you're underweight, you can talk to your dr or a nutritionist and she can recommend foods to help you gain weight. Chances are, you'll start to gain weight naturally as you get older. For now, just enjoy being small!

In response to "favcolorgreen," High fructose corn syrup is equivalent to sugar. Eliminating it from your diet won't neccesarily make you way healthier. The one thing that will make you healthier, is limiting your sugar intake. Instead of using a cup of sugar on your cereal, you could use a tablespoon of honey, it will give you that same sweet taste in a smaller serving.

So sunday I got a stomach virus, it was pretty bad and monday wasnt much better. Today I feel alot better, but I know I'm not entirely well. Tommrow my advanced theatre class is doing something for the school and I really want to go! Any tips on how to feel better? (oh ps I'm not contagious)

Hey girlie! Drink lots of fluids (sports drinks, ginger ale, water, and tea) and eat foods that are easy on your tummy (toast, rice, and other bland foods).  Hopefully you'll be back in action tomorrow! xoxo

I have a really sensitive stomach to dairy and sugar! I know this is good because I really watch my weight and stay healthy,but I can't help feeling left out when it comes to sleepovers I always feel left out because I can't have like any of the desserts! Frown

 

Hey chicky! Try offering to make dessert and bringing something you CAN eat (bake with honey instead of sugar and no dairy).  I'm sure you can find delicious recipes and you can join in on snacking with your friends. xoxo

Ok, so I'm skinny, but I have some fat in my thighs and it makes me feel self concious when I sit down because it makes the top of my legs look bigger, which also makes me look weird because the bottom of my legs are skinny. What are some good exercises for toning thighs and helps to get rid of fat in your thighs and upper legs? Thank you!!

Hey girl! I don't have a list of the healthy ones, but check the nutritional facts on the back of the package.  If they have more than 10% or so of anything (carbs, sugar, fats), then they probably aren't as healthy as you think they are!

I am entering high school this September and I really want to make the field hockey team. I have religiously been going to all the captain's practices and all we do is run. The problem is that I am not that great of a runner. I am always feeling like I can't breathe when I run. How can I improve my breathing problem when I run and is a coach only going to focus on my lack of ability in running???

 

Hey girl! Running is a big part of any sport, so your coach might expect everyone to be at a certain level during try outs.  When you're running, try breaking in through your nose and out through your mouth at an even pace.  If you focus on your breathing, you'll be getting more oxygen to your body and will be able to push harder.  Try running a little bit outside of the captain's practices (on days that you aren't going to be running with other girls) and practice your breathing while you run.  The more you practice, the more natural it will be while you run at the captain's practices.  Good luck! xoxo

Hey chica! I haven't heard any firm benefits to rubbing olive oil on your eyelashes to have them grow.  Since they are hair like any other, and olive oil doesn't make other types of hair grow significantly, I don't think it'll help that much. xoxo
