modmodmodmod: I have a friend who is a huge fan of the band My Chemical Romance, but her parents who are very Christian hate the way they look and the kind of music they sing and won't let her listen to it. Her rents also found out she bought a t-shirt from Hot Topic and told her to get rid of it, and took away her iPod because of all the pics she had on it of the band. My parents on the other hand see no problem with me listening to them. My BFF really wants her parents to accept the fact that she loves listening to their music and that the band helps people who are depressed and has saved lives through their music. Her brother also listened to them and their parents had no problem with it, but she doesn't understand why she can't. Any advice for her on how she can get her parents to be ok with her being an MCR fan?

Maybe she could explain to them why she likes them and show them some of the lyrics that inspire her. If they see the positive effect music has on her, they might change their minds!
