Did I ruin my chance with my crush?
His friends asked me if I liked him the day of a school dance. Did I
break his heart by saying I didn't? I do like him. He has been my
crush for a year. Now things seem really awkward between us. I feel
like we can't even look each other in the eye. Did I pass by my chance
to be his girl? What can I do to get something going between us?
Hey chica! Do you have any reason to believe that you may have actually hurt
him? Awkwardness could be from many things in your situation. He could just be embarrassed that his friends asked you that. Maybe he's just having a bad week. On the other hand, it could
be just as you say and he may feel bad for one reason or
another.
It's also possible for it to be more you, than it is him. Sometimes we worry about something so much that we project it onto
others around us. I do it all the time!
If you really do want to fix things, your best bet is to bring it to
his attention and talk to him about it. Bring up in conversation
that his friends mentioned that to you, and you were wondering why
that was. If you get the right vibe that he does like you, then
don't be too nervous to just say, "I do like you, but I told
them I didn't. I hope we can clear up this misunderstanding."
If you're in doubt whether or not he is interested in you, toss it out
there to the friends of his that asked you the question in the first
place. Just keep in mind that information from other sources
always has to be taken with skepticism.
