5 ways to get out of a relationship rough patch--for better or worse

Every relationship has its rough patch. Sure, you two have had some pretty stellar moments. But if there’s an argument here or there, it’s worth saving, right? Well, that depends. Luckily, we found easy tips to help ya two through it—and when to end it.

Talk to him about it. If there’s a problem you two are having, it won’t settle itself unless one of you opens up (hint: it’s most likely going to be you). And more importantly, listen. A healthy relationship means both people listening and respecting each other’s feelings.

Surprise him with a treat. Better yet? Make it from scratch. Let’s face it, nothing’s better than a homemade goodie. He’ll totes love that you took the time to make him something.

Give him some space. It will give you both some time to think about your next move—if you want to try and work out your differences, or end the relationship. The last thing you want to be is clingy!

Don’t force him to make an effort. If you feel that you are putting in more than he is, take some time to yourself to think about what that might mean. You don’t want him to feel like you’re forcing him stay.

Know when it’s time to end it. The number one sign it’s not working is if you can’t find a common ground. And in the end, if you both are unhappy, it’s not worth being in a relationship.
