Advice

Falling for my friend's fella

I really like this guy, but I’m not sure if he likes me back. Sometimes I catch him looking at me and smiling. The thing is, he and my friend like each other. She’s always saying that if her mom let her date, they would totally be going out. I’m allowed to date now—should I take a chance and see if he likes me? Or would this love triangle be too messy?

That’s a tough one, chica. The saying goes that all’s fair in love and war, but you certainly don’t wanna turn your fling into World War III, do you?

Talk to your bestie

There’s a reason you’re asking us for advice and not your buddy, right? This is a super-awkward sitch, girl, and we totally get that. But the only one who can tell ya if going for it is a good move or not is the girl with the hots for the guy you’re crushing on. Whatever you do, surprising her by upping your flirtation will only feelings of hurt and distrust.

Lay low

In this situation, I suggest putting the ball into his court. Maybe you’re friend is bluffing about how close they are, or maybe this is just a temporary infatuation. Whatever it is, sitting back and letting your crush do the flirting is def the way to go.

Move on

If you’re feeling guilty about stealin’ her guy—or if she gives ya a big, fat “No!” when you ask her about it—any relationship you might have with him won’t be a happy one. Avoid the drama by turning your attention to another dude, like that hottie in history. Maybe you could do a project together…
