Who said romance is dead?! This cutie proves writing love letters beats texting anyday

Last week, I was heading to a sleep away camp and I was super nervous. Since I started dating my boyfriend, he would talk to me on the phone every night until I fell asleep to help keep my nightmares away. The problem was that at camp we weren’t allowed our cellphones, which meant no phone calls and zero communication. I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to talk to him I actually cried before I left.

I came up with the idea that we could write letters for each other to read. The last time I saw him before I left, I gave him my stack of seven letters I wrote for him and he handed me… a journal?! He told me not to open it until the (six hour!) bus ride there. It was tough to wait, but I did! Once on the bus, I flipped through the journal and found that every single page was filled. There was at least a six-page letter for every day I was away, as well as a letter for the bus ride there and the bus ride back.

Each letter included little things that would make me happy, quotes, songs, inside jokes, quirks he loved about me and even little interactive boxes and games to keep me entertained on the long bus rides or if I couldn’t sleep. The back of the journal had pages of pictures to make me laugh, including funny baby pictures of him that were my absolute fave.

The fact he took the time to write it made me so happy and I felt super special, definitely made my time away from home easier.
