Pennant Pride

Before you cheer yourself hoarse at the big game, make up some sweet school spirit swag with this DIY pennant, perfect for supporting your fave home team.

What You’ll Need:

Felt in your team’s colors (find it at any craft or fabric store)

Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

Assorted decorations (think glitter glue sticks, fabric paint, ric-rac ribbon and fuzzy pompom balls)

Optional: Magnets, dowel rod (1/4” or 1/2” should work well, but size doesn’t matter too much)

What You’ll Do:

1. Grab your felt and cut it down to size. The shape you’re lookin’ for is a long triangle. For a large pennant, shoot for about 10 inches wide and 24 inches long. For something smaller, let the space decide your size. Hanging it in your locker? Eyeball the space you have to decorate while your standin’ in the hall. Putting it on your bedroom wall? Pull out a tape measure.

2. Decide what ya wanna say and plan out the size and spacing of your letters and shapes. Footballs, megaphones, pompoms—everything is fair game. Go team!

3. Glue or paint on your decorations and let dry.

4. Ready to showcase your school spirit? If you’re taking your pennant along to the big game, gluing it to a dowel rod with hot glue is a great idea. Simply wrap the straight, wide end of the triangle around a dowel rod and glue it in place. If you want to hang it in your locker or on your fridge, glue on some magnets and presto, instant pennant pride!
