Stay Cute 'n' Cool on the Hottest of Days

Feelin’ the heat? Now’s the time to channel the chill and make the dog days more bearable. Get ready to up the ice factor on your afternoons—now!

Make a Splash
Just add water! Have a blast by calling up some buds and breaking out your old Super Soaker or Slip N Slide. Hand out joke awards (Muddiest Hair, Most Dry, etc.) and down some ice cream when you’re done. Want something more low-key? Blend up some smoothies and kick your feet in a backyard kiddie pool.

Chill in the Shade
Lemonade and ice pops are both summer musts. Cue the mash-up. Fill teeny Dixie cups 3/4 of the way with your fave lemonade (we like strawberry!). Cover the cups with tin foil and stick a popsicle sticks in each one. Freeze, and nosh them picnic-style under a tree.

Ditch the Denim
On the hottest of days thick jeans just won't do. Cast aside your cut-offs for a moment don a jaunty dress and huge fedora. Keep a foldable fan handy and create your own breeze. See? You can have killer style, even when it’s smolderin’. Stash your sunscreen in the fridge for a quick cool down before you hit the town.

Soak Those Tootsies
Splashing your peds in a mint soakaroo sends a chill throughout your entire bod. Fill a bucket or the tub with cool water and toss a few bath fizzies in. Hang out and take in the icy effect. Drink some cucumber water when you’re hanging out to up the spa feel.

Book It
Need AC stat? We've got a way to make your local library (they're always chilly!) way more fun. Create a silent scavenger hunt with your girlies. Create clues (like find a novel about a teen model, search for a book printed before 1924, etc.) and pass them out to the crew. You MUST do this quietly--no running and no bugging the librarian. At the end, check out few new reads and crack 'em open.
