4 fun ways to tie your scarf

Sure, that scarf does wonders as an actual neck warmer, but it’s time to shake it up a bit. Yep, you can the super stylish girl who rocks a scarf like a belt/headwrap/bow tie. Intrigued? Read on for deets.

How-to: The Bow Tie
A super flirty scarf bow tie is unexpected--embrace it! To achieve this look, grab a longer scarf and loop it around your neck, making sure the ends are about even. Tie a bow, as you would on your sneaks. Tighten to desired length. Because it’s kind of a showstopper, this one’s best over a simple tee or plain blouse.

How-to: The Updated Kerchief
A handkerchief-style scarf gets a modern twist, literally. Darling over a tee or fitted v-neck sweater, you’ll need a square scarf to pull this off. Fold scarf into a triangle, then twist both ends and tie off at the nape of your neck, tucking the ends under. Super stylish, and a little bit vintage.

How-to: The Scarf Belt
Way more fun than a leather belt: We love mixing this with a bright dress or floaty skirt and tee combo. Find a reversible scarf that’s printed on both sides. Loosely twist and wrap scarf around waist. Tie in bow or knot in front, and move knot over to one hip.

How-to: The Head Scarf
You’ll need a silky number for this one. Check out Mom’s or Grandma’s collection to see if they’ll lend you a vintage beauty. Grab a square-shaped scarf, fold it into a triangle, and place over your head with the fold at your hairline. Tie the corners under your neck. We love it with hair left down. Got a longer silk scarf? Fold in half, lengthwise. Place scarf across your upper forehead, and tie in back, letting ends hang loose for a carefree, boho look.
