MAKE IT CUTE

Parties

Gather your girls for a glam dinner party with this hostessing how-to

Week after week, you invite your crew over for a sleepover where you probably order pizza (extra cheese, please!) and snuggle up with the latest ep of Riverdale. While there’s nothing wrong with that, it can get a little boring doing the same thing each week! Mix it up by inviting your besties over for a sophisticated dinner party.

Elevate your invite.
You usually just text your friends asking them to come over, right? Take it to the next level with a pretty invitation to your bash. Have them printed on nice cardstock and top with a pretty envelope and festive stamp—we love this bright and colorful summer-inspired card.

Pick a polished outfit.
Your dinner party attire doesn’t have to be black-tie, but it’s nice to glam up your usual jeans and a tee every once in a while. Wear something similar to what you would wear to a nice dinner with the fam—a cute dress or skirt and top should do the trick. Don’t forget to take tons of Insta-worthy pics with everyone all glammed up, too.

Spruce up your dining room.
You don’t need to get crazy fancy here—in fact, you probably have a lot of great decos at home already. Ask your mom if you can borrow a nice tablecloth, placemats and some pretty dishes. Snag a gorg vase and fill it with some flowers or add some cute balloons to save table space. Get crafty by making place cards for each of your guests. They’re super easy to make, and you can customize them to fit the theme of your decorations. Then finish off the look with a nice place setting for each member of your squad.

Plan a delish menu.
At a dinner party, the menu is the most important thing. Don’t get too adventurous with the meal—it doesn’t have to be fancy to be delicious. Think about the foods you and your friends like to eat. Is everyone super into spaghetti day in the caf? Make a big pot of spaghetti and meatballs with some yummy bread and a big salad. Do you head straight to Chipotle when school ends? Make a Mexican feast with tacos or burritos. Set it up buffet-style so everyone can fill their plate. For drinks, pop the sparkling grape juice and pour into champagne flutes for a sophisticated sip. You could even garnish it with a cute decoration. Of course finish off the evening with a dessert bar to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth.
