5 cute ways to celebrate Groundhog Day this year

Groundhog Day is a holiday that isn't normally on our radar, but this year, we are totally embracing the tradition. For one, we've basically been living out the movie Groundhog Day all year long, so we might as well have some fun with it. In spite of the difficult times recently, it's important to celebrate the little things. And Groundhog Day is *your* chance to plan something fun! We've rounded up five ways to celebrate Punxsutawney Phil this year.

Watch Groundhog Day.

What better way to get into the spirit than by watching the classic Bill Murray film? In the movie, news reporter Phil finds himself reliving February 2 over and over again. Sound familiar? It's a cute comedy movie that'll have you reminiscing on the OG quarantine days.

Create an alternate reality.

Take the afternoon off from HW and do an activity that makes you feel like you're living an alternate reality. Maybe it's scrolling through TikTok or playing video games—even better if it's virtual reality! The Groundhog Day movie features a funky time loop, so create your own parallel universe to celebrate.

Make that one food you couldn't stop eating last March.

We all had our quarantine food thing, whether it was baking a loaf of ciabatta bread, cooking ultra-gooey mac and cheese or drinking TikTok-famous whipped coffee. Treat yourself with a yummy snack this Groundhog Day.

Create your perfect routine.

If you *actually* had to live the same day over and over again, what would you do? Maybe you'd finally get off your phone and spend some extra time with your sibs. Or you'd start practicing ukulele for 30 minutes like you always planned to. This is your chance to figure out what you really want in life—so spend a few minutes creating a fulfilling daily routine.

Throw a Groundhog Day party.

Gather your fam or power up Zoom for a fun celebration with your loved ones. Whip up some cute groundhog-inspired snacks (we heart these groundhog pancakes) and put up some spring and winter decorations (paper snowflakes and flowers are perf in a pinch). If you're feeling *super* festive, throw on a groundhog costume for extra fun.
