Your way-too-early guide to decorating your room for Christmas

It's after Halloween, which means we're officially in Christmas mode! If you're anything like us, you start blasting Christmas music the minute the calendar flips to November. You also love sprucing up your room for the holiday with tons of red and green and cute Christmas decorations. Whether you start celebrating in November or December, it's always good to have some inspiration for decorating your room for the most wonderful time of the year. Read on for some fabulous festive room decor inspo!

Christmas lights

Target, $3

Tbh, you probably already have these in your room year-round. If not, you need to get on it—Christmas lights are perfect for creating a chill ambiance in your room and any space. You can go for rainbow lights (did somebody say Stranger Things?), or you could go for white or yellow lights to achieve that festive Christmas vibe.

Snow globes

Target, $12

Perfect for adding hints of Christmas spirit, snow globes are so fun to display around your room—and give a shake. To amplify that Christmas spirit, find ones with a music box that play Christmas songs. You'll feel like you're walking in a winter wonderland in no time! If you really want to go all out, you can find themed snow globes for various franchises, like Harry Potter.

Garlands (pine or Christmas-themed)

Etsy, $6

The fabulous Christmas touch that's affordable and requires little effort, Christmas garlands are perfect for wrapping around a tree or adding pops of color around your room. If you don't want to buy a Christmas-themed bedspread, but still want your bed to show your spirit, drape it over your headboard for some easy festive decoration. If you want to incorporate pine into your decor, you can find evergreen garlands that will function the same way.

Mini Christmas trees

Target, $15

Just a lucky guess here, but your room probably isn't big enough for a full-sized Christmas tree. If that's the case, invest in a (fake) mini tree! Perfect for a flat surface (like your dresser or desk), a mini Christmas tree is an easy way to add some Christmas cheer to your room. Pro tip: Get a small strand of lights to wrap around your tree to add to the festive feeling.

Christmas themed signs

Amazon, $13

Probably the easiest way to get your room decorated for Christmas is to put up a Christmas sign. You can get one that stands on its own, one that can get propped up on a wall or one that hangs on something, like a doorknob or bedpost. It's easy, cute and festive: Everything Christmas decor should be!
