Your Bod

Are you getting these vitamins? Why you might not be as healthy as you think

Part of being healthy is feeding yourself the right food. And that means making sure that you’re giving yourself enough vitamins and minerals throughout the day. It can be tough to track your daily intake of vitamins, but it is *so* important to make sure that you’re getting enough. We’ve broken down the essential vitamins that every single body needs and of course, included a bunch of delish recipes for you to try out at home.

Vitamin A

Essential for:
+ Healthy eyes
+ Strong immune system
+ Good skin

This vitamin is rich in all sorts of foods from orange fruits and veggies to pure milk. In fact, sweet potatoes are a great source of Vitamin A, so start munching! Check out a delish recipe for baked sweet potato fries here.

Vitamin B6

Essential for:
+ Preventing memory loss
+ Nerve function
+ Better sleep

Also known as pyridoxine, Vitamin B6 can be found in most proteins such as red meat, fish and chicken. Our favorite way to get protein in is by cooking up some steak tacos. They are super fun to make and are too good to resist! Check out a fab recipe here.

Vitamin C

Essential for:
+ Strong bones
+ Healthy teeth
+ Clear skin

The most obvious source of Vitamin C is oranges. From freshly squeezed OJ to plain orange slices, this fruit will give your bod a great daily amount of Vitamin C. But if you're tired of eating plain old fruit, fancy it up with this citrusy *all-day-breakfast* waffle recipe.

Vitamin D

Essential for:
+ Strong bones
+ Calcium absorption
+ Keeping blood pressure normal

You may not know this, but your bod is getting plenty of Vitamin D just by being outside (shout out to the sun!). Other than that, some foods that are really rich in this vitamin include all things dairy, like eggs and milk...oh, and this amazing chocolate shake recipe.

Vitamin E

Essential for:
+ Protecting cells
+ Preventing cancer
+ Reducing cramps

Nuts and grains are some of the best sources of Vitamin E. With that being said, replace your afternoon sweets and chips with more nuts like almonds and peanuts. If you are craving something sweet, we highly recomend baking almond cake. It's full of Vitamin E and it will def satisfy your craving. Click here for the recipe.

Vitamin K

Essential for:
+ Treating bruises and scars
+ Preventing blood clotting
+ Strengthening weak bones

K is for kale. This nutrient is found in dark greens that are usually in salads. We are kale *fanatics* and have inclded an irresistable recipe that will give your body a healthy amount of Vitamin K to help make sure that your bones and skin are healthy and strong. Check out this yummy recipe here.
