We Tried It: Eating 5 meals a day

Are hunger pains in between meals bringing ya down? For me, the answer to that was easy: yes! I used to eat breakfast at 8 a.m. and by 10, my stomach was begging for a snack. Unfortunately, a granola bar just wouldn’t cut it, and I was even hungrier (and grumpier) a half an hour later. My solution? Changing my three-meals-a-day eating plan into five small meals a day.

I know, this sounds like it would add major calories to your diet, but not if you split it up properly. Eating five meals a day isn’t an excuse to indulge in your regular meals and then some, it is meant to split up your meals so it isn’t all concentrated at once. For example, instead of eating an entire turkey sandwich in one sitting, eat one half at noon and the other half at two. This will keep you full throughout the day and kick your crazy cravings to the curb. Plus, keeping your tummy full of well-balanced foods throughout the day will speed up your metabolism and keep you going.

Luckily, since I started this new routine I haven’t heard my stomach growl once, and I’m feeling more energized than ever. Just be sure to keep your diet packed with nutrients and healthy goodies like fruits and veggies and you’ll be good to go!
