3 healthy picks for Rita's Day

Guess what time of year it is! That’s right: It is finally, officially and without a doubt spring. And you know what that means. It’s Rita’s Day! From 12 to 9 p.m., Rita’s locations across the U.S. are offering a free, regular-sized Italian ice to each customer. It’s a tradition nearly two decades in the making, and this year, we are so not missing out. Wanna grab a delish frozen treat this afternoon? Here are our top-three healthy (OK, it is dessert—healthier!) picks…

Classic Italian Ice

Duh! Grab a kid’s cup of Italian or Cream Ice, close your eyes and envision the Italian Riviera. Ahh! While this option isn’t exactly low in sugar, it won’t blow your calories for the day at 160 to 300 calories a cup, depending on your flavor choice.

Custard

For about 230 calories, you can get a kid’s cup of creamy deliciousness. Rita’s custard is, in a word, amazing. Bonus? It’s packed with 4 grams of protein. Not bad for a li’l ice cream, right?

Slenderita Soft Serve

Slenderita is by far the healthiest option on Rita’s menu. A kid’s cup has just 160 calories and absolutely no fat or cholesterol. While it does have 23 grams of sugar and 180 mg of sodium, we’re pleased as punch with the 6 grams of protein it contains.
What do ya think, babes? Will you be indulging in a cup of Rita's today?
