Cereal Makeover

Cereal may be the best go-to breakfast meal there is. It’s easy and takes only a couple simple seconds to pour. Unfortunately, Cocoa Puffs and Froot Loops may not provide the best nutrients to help your active bod get through the busy days. Their sky-high sugar counts may just set you up for a crash later in the day. To give you gals the scoop, GL took a cereal challenge and tried a few of the healthiest choices.

[ME] and goji
Customize your very own cereal?! It’s true! By visiting [ME] and goji online, http://www.meandgoji.com/ you can pick the yummy cereal base which ranges from golden granola to flaxed and flaked, all of which are super packed with natural nutrients. Next, you get to throw in tasty treats like dried fruit, nuts and seeds. Creating your own cereal is a great idea, but to like [ME] and goji, you have to be a permanent passenger of the whole-grain train.

The cereal is a bit pricey too, so although it is a great alternative to Cap’N Crunch, you should def think about it before breaking out the benjamins. It might make a cute gift for a health-obsessed relative, though.

Classic Cheerios and Fruit
We all remember this all-time fave choice from childhood, but it’s ‘bout time to bring it back! Cheerios are great for your heart. They’re high in whole grain but also low in sodium and fat.

Get creative with Cheerios and create a breakfast bowl that can be better suited to your taste buds and oh-so good for you. They will go great with basically every fruit you feel like throwing in. Toss in some blueberries to get some extra antioxidants or add a banana for a lil’ bonus potassium!

Kashi Go Lean Crunch!
This stuff is great! From the box it looks like you have to be an all-out health nut to love this cereal, but trust us, you don’t. The texture is awesome, when Kashi says, “crunch” they really mean it. With a little hint of honey and a sprinkling of cinnamon flavor, you’ll be saying mmm as soon as you dig in. You can add fresh fruit to this delish, high-fiber cereal, too. Or, pour some in a baggie and take it to school for a snack.
