3 steps to heading off a sugar coma

Hopped up on sweets from last nights trick-or-treat extravaganza? Today (and the two weeks that follow) don’t have to be a cycle of sugary highs and lows. Here’s how to beat the crash before you feel the least bit sleepy.

Step 1: Drink up!

Uh, no, not the super caffeinated stuff or calorie-packed sodas. Instead, opt for the original hydrator: H2O. Tote around a water bottle and be sure to fill it up on the regular. Getting used to sipping on the regular will help balance out whatever ya bite into.

Step 2: Choose your sweets wisely

Got a choice between candy corn and Snickers? Opt for the latter. Here’s why: Sure, the candy bar is packed with sugar, but it’s not 100-percent sugar and corn syrup. The peanuts offer up some protein, which gives you legit energy that won’t burn you out.

Step 3: Get moving

Waking up your body, even if it’s just tapping your foot in math class or volunteering to run a file down to the front office, will help clear your head and keep the rest of you awake and processing the information teach is preaching. Phew!
