It's official: Teens are the most stressed out people ever

Sick of Mom and Dad asking what on earth you have to be stressed about? Wave this article in front of their faces, babe, ‘cause the answer is clear: pretty much everything.

The 2013 Stress in America survey was just released by the American Psychological Association, and teens have taken the title from the Millennials aged 18 to 33. The average adult rates their stress level at a 5.1 on a 10-point scale. Teens top ‘em at 5.8. Teens believe a healthy level of stress to be around a 3.9 out of 10, and their levels sky rocket during the school year. And only 16 percent of all teens surveyed said their stress levels have decreased. Nearly a third reported an increase in the last 365 days. Yikes.

And it’s not doin’ good things to ya. Thirty-one percent of teens say stress makes them overwhelmed. Thirty percent said it makes them feel depressed. Thirty-six percent say it makes them feel fatigued. Even worse, many said they didn’t know how to properly manage their stress.

In light of the findings, we’ll be tackling all aspects of stress, from how to figure out if your stress is normal to how to handle it in a healthy way. In the meantime, tell us in the comments how you feel about stress, how it affects your life and what you do to deal.
