Easy ways to balance your wellness wheel

Are you feeling out of whack lately, but can't figure out *exactly* what's going on? True, you might be sick (hello, winter colds) but it might be something else...like your wellness wheel might be unbalanced. A wellness wheel is a tool used in most health classes and therapy to visually show the components that make up your overall health. Below are some simple tips to get your wheel back up and spinning again, just in time for the new year.

Social:

It's important to maintain your relationships with both your friends *and* your fam. Pick a day each month for you and your besties to have some quality girl time and do the same for your fam. We love the idea of a family game night or a scenic hike at your local state park. Another great way to stay social is by volunteering in your community. Giving back to the people around you who are in need will make your heart so full.

Physical:

Are you eating right? And yes, that includes getting enough fruits and vegetables but it also means making sure you're eating enough and not skipping meals. Fuel that bod! Don't forget about catching some serious zzz's, too. Sleep is so importantwithout, it our bodies can’t run effieciently and will literally shut down, so 8-10 hours minimum (if you want to function like a human being and not sleeping beauty). Last, but definitely not least, be active. You don't have to kill yourself at the gyma brisk walk around the neighborhood for 30 minutes will do the trick.

Spiritual:

Find something to look forward to everyday that really means something to you. Once you find it throw yourself into it and we pretty much guarantee, your life will feel a *lot* more fulfilled and joyful. Maybe you don't really know what your big passion is yet and are still searching for who you are. A good first step? Making a vision board.

Emotional:

Your feelings and emotions are nothing to be ashamed of, so be aware of them and ask others for help when you need it. There's no shame in reaching out...sometimes just talking to someone makes a world of difference. And follow the golden rule by treating others the way you would want them to treat you. Show them that you care by lending a hand (this could be as simple as saying, “Mom I’ll wash the dishes tonight”).

Occupational:

You may not have a job, but school is a lot of work that commands your focus. Make sure you are organized and are keeping up with your studies. Don’t be afraid to raise your hand or stay after class to get a little extra help from the teacher. That dream college is *totally* in your reach.

Intellectual:

Practice makes perfectif you don’t feel up to par on something, whether it’s difficult theorems in math or improving your shot on the soccer field, ask a teacher or coach for help. If that doesn’t work, find a helpful video on YouTube. Remember there's always more than one way to solve a problem.
