We Tried It: Indo Board Balance Trainer

Bored with the same repetitive workouts? Well, get ready to wobble, ‘cause the GL girls just tried out the Indo Board. The Indo Board is the size of a boogie board (for those of you who live near the waves) and it comes with a tube (they call it a roller) and a cushion to balance on. You practice major balancing on the board and roller and then resistance training with the board and cushion.

At first we didn't know exactly what to do, but once we stepped up, we figured it out quickly. The girls who snowboarded def caught on to the balance thing quicker than the non-boarding crew. It may seem like an act from the circus, but really it’s a fantabulous work out to firm up your booty and strengthen your legs.

The Indo Board comes with a DVD that demos the moves you can do. We tried out squats. Sure, you can do ‘em without equipment, but having to balance and do squats at the same time works your butt, thighs and core a lot harder than regular squats. My abs and legs were totally burning after just a few minutes. The balancing took some getting used to before we could start any exercise. That's a fun workout in itself, especially if you’re trying it out with a friend.

The down side? Indo Boards aren’t so cheap—packages start out around $80. But if you’ve got money to spend and wanna increase your balance (for, say, surfing, snowboarding or tons of other sports) this could be a fun way to do it. Plus, you might flatten your belly and gain some muscle along the way.
