FEATURE FRIDAY: Excuse Busters!

Got a million reasons why you can’t work out? Not anymore. GL’s got a rebuttal for every “but I don’t wanna” you can dream up. That’s why trainer Andrea Partland gave us her best-ever reasons to get your butt moving. Sorry…no more excuses.

I’m too out of shape!
“There’s no such thing as being ‘too out of shape’ to exercise,” says Andrea. If you’ve been couch surfin’ for years, start small. “A little bit goes a long way. Exercising just five to 10 minutes a day can benefit you tremendously.”

I’m sooo tired. How can I even work out?
If you’ve got that sloggy, “I need a nap—stat” feelin’, it’s because, um, you aren’t exercising. Yup, working out actually makes you energetic.

I’m a first-timer...and I don’t know what to do!
It can be overwhelming at first, but there’s sooo much info out there (hello, G-Life). And don’t be afraid to ask for help, whether it’s from your sporty BFF, your athletic bro or your PE teacher.

Sweat? Ew! I would work out if it wasn’t so gross.
Your bod’s gotta get rid of toxins, and sweatin’ is a great way to do it. Plus, that glow is how you know you’re actually working out and not just hangin’ out. And, clue, there’s such a thing as showers.

I’m naturally skinny, so why should I exercise?
“Exercise is not about being skinny! It is about being strong and healthy and respecting yourself,” Andrea advises.

I don’t have time.
Make time! If you’re super busy, Andrea advises splitting up your workout. Do 10 minutes in the a.m., then another 10 at night. Sneak in longer workouts on weekends, like hiking or an extra-tough bike ride. “Whatever it takes to get moving, do it,” Andrea says. “You are worth it.”
