CELEB TIPS: Jennette McCurdy

GL: How do you stay in tippy-top shape? Jennette: Staying fit is something very important to me. When I was very young, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thank goodness she is okay now, but ever since then, she has been on a strict diet consisting of LOTS of fruits, vegetables, and water, and very-little-to-no meats or sweets. My mom also exercises daily. I think that since she has been on this diet and exercise routine for so long, it made me realize from a young age how important physical activity and nutrition is to preventing cancer and other diseases.

Although I don't eat perfectly every day, I try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and get in a minimum of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables. I don't eat a lot of meat (and never red meats!). I try to limit my sweets, as well. Exercise is something that I really enjoy, so that is not as hard for me to do! I figure skate and play ice hockey, which are both very great forms of exercise, plus they're super fun! I also stretch daily to keep my muscles from getting bulky!

GL: What’s your fav healthy snack?

J: Pink Lady apples! Yum!!!

GL: Favorite fitness routine?

J: Fifteen minutes of stretching, an hour of figure skating, an hour of hockey. Each activity compliments the other!
