Get fit fast! Do these sunrise stretches, feel amazing all day

Waking up can be rough, and after late summer nights, it can feel impossible. Instead of hitting snooze or wasting away some of the last precious hours of vacay (sorry to go there!), hop outta bed and make a beeline for the shower. After a quick steam, your muscles are warm and relaxed, making it the perfect time to stretch and wake your entire body up. Rock these speedy moves each and every day, to give yourself a big dose of energy and zap away any lingering sleepiness. Want more? Follow it up with a few sun salutations, and add a little toning to your rise 'n' shine routine.

Here are our five fave sunrise stretches!

    Sunrise stretch #1: Lovely legs

Lay down on a flat surface, with your arms flat by your side. Lift your left leg up to form a 90 degree angle with the floor. You can use your hands to pull your leg toward your body for a deeper stretch. Make sure to keep your right leg fully extended on the ground in front of you. Flex both feet and hold for 30 seconds, then switch legs.

    Sunrise stretch #2: Beautiful butterfly

Sit flat on the ground with your legs straight out. Turn your feet inward until bottom of your shoes touch. Slowly pull your legs toward your body until you feel the stretch in your inner thighs and hips. Hold for 30 seconds and repeat. For those flexible femmes out there you can try reaching your hands straight out and leaning down until your head touches the floor.

    Sunrise stretch #4: Body bend

Stand up and place your left hand on the wall and cross your right foot in front of your left leg. Make sure to keep both feet pointed forward. Reach your right arm over your head and lean to the left as if your arm is pulling you. You will feel this stretch from your shoulder down to your thigh. It's a total body stretch.

    Sunrise stretch #5: Shoulder shrug

Stand up right with your eyes looking straight ahead. Without moving your head, lift your shoulders and move them in a counter clockwise circle. After 30 seconds switch directions and move them in a clockwise motion. It'll help relieve tightness in your shoulders, which can happen if you're sitting at your desk or computer all day long.
