Get outta bed! Foolproof ways to rock your AM workout

Mornings can be rough. And let's face it, the thought of squeezing in an AM workout can be seriously daunting. But here's the thing—getting out of bed and into your gym clothes is not only really beneficial to your health, it can make you feel more productive and energized all day. (Plus, you won’t have to worry about hitting the treadmill after you’ve had a long day of school or extra-curricular activities.) The solution? Stop hitting the snooze button and follow these awesome tips to get the most out of your early-bird sweat sesh—guaranteed.

Prep yourself

Make sure you get enough shut-eye the night before a workout. If you’re running on four hours of sleep, your workout will feel ten times harder. Get 7-8 hours for best results.

Grab a friend

If you make plans to hit the gym at 7 AM with your bestie, you’ll be less likely to skip out because you definitely don’t want to ditch her. (Can you imagine her face? Yikes.) Plus, you’ll have a personal motivator when you’re putting in work.

Be patient (and gentle)

If getting out of bed is a serious struggle, tell yourself that you only need to stay outside your covers for 10 minutes. After the 10 have passed, you’ll feel pretty awake—and getting back into your sheets will just seem unproductive. Bonus tip: Your body is pretty still in the morning, so use this time to drink a glass of water and perform some gentle stretches to get your blood flowing.

Fall in love with pre-made breakfasts
Making your power brekky the night before will save you loads of time in the morning, and it’s easier to get up when you know you don’t have to make a big, nutritious meal. Fuel your body super quickly by making overnight oats or egg cups in the PM.

Make it fun
If getting up and running a few miles sounds awful, it’s time to switch up your routine. Sign up for a Zumba class or pilates and learn to use different muscles. Create an awesome playlist and buy a cute new outfit. Feeling like a rockstar makes working out way more enjoyable.
