I can't avoid my food allergies

I have food allergies, and I've known for about two years now, but I haven't really changed my eating habits. We buy special food, but I still eat food I'm allergic to.

It doesn't cause me much pain, just the occasional stomach ache. I know I need to stop eating food I'm allergic to, but I can't stop myself! Please help.

As hard as it must be to resist your favorite foods, it’s important that you do. Your health is a serious matter, and if you know you’re allergic to a certain food, no matter how mild an allergy, you shouldn’t test your body by continuing to eat it.

You have to focus and commit yourself to resisting the foods that make you sick, because brushing off your allergic reactions as “occasional stomach pain” is not a good idea. You wouldn’t want to put your health in danger if you were to have a serious reaction.

First, you have to accept and understand the risks of eating foods you’re allergic to, then focus on avoiding them. Don’t tell yourself you can’t stop yourself, because then of course you won’t be able to. Be positive and don’t lose your focus.

If you’re buying special foods, but you’re still eating the wrong foods, then maybe you just haven’t found a healthy replacement to the stuff you love. Try new things until you find something you love as much as your old faves.

Over time, you won’t want those old foods anymore, and you won’t have to try so hard to resist eating them. For now, just stay focused and positive, and find fun and healthy replacement foods to eat.
