Does the size of my belly change overnight?

Why does my stomach look fat one day but thinner the next? Is it just me being my own worst critic, or is my belly really changing overnight?
While we are all quite skilled at being our own worst critics, your belly really is changing overnight. A tummy that looks flatter or rounder could be due to water weight or bloating. Depending upon what we’ve had to eat and drink in the proceeding hours, the amount of water our body holds onto fluctuates. Things like salty potato chips or sodas can force your body to retain more water than it usually does in order to balance out the electrolytes you’ve consumed. That can lead to your stomach looking heavier or larger than it normally is.
Water weight is nothing to worry about. Your body needs that water to help keep all of your internal systems on track. To cut back on water retention around your midsection, try reducing the number of salty foods and beverages you eat and drink.
If you’re feeling a tightness or fullness in your stomach when you notice it looking heavier than usual, this could be due to bloating or an accumulation of gas in your tummy and intestines. Bloating can be caused by poor diet, food allergies and drinking too little water, so do shoot for sipping those 8 glasses of H2O a day.
