Beat body acne: 4 steps to clear skin

Pimples on your back, chest and shoulders can make ya’ want to hide in long-sleeved shirts—even when the temps soar during the summer months. Here’s how to say goodbye to body acne and hello to sundresses and tank tops…

Choose the right body wash

An exfoliating body wash will cast away dead skin, which can trap bacteria. If your acne is mild, look for a wash with salicylic acid as the active ingredient. If your acne is more severe, look for a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide.

Moisturize

I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but applying a light moisturizer will help. When your skin is too dry, your body produces extra oil that can clog your pores.

Change your sheets

Acne causing bacteria can gather on your sheets and pillowcases if you don’t wash them often enough. Try washing them every week.

Don’t work out in tight clothes

Tight clothes trap bacteria against your skin, causing blemishes. Try working out in loose t-shirts instead of super-tight tanks. Also, be sure to change out of your workout clothes as soon as you are finished.
