5 natural ways to prevent and treat pesky pimples

Waking up and finding a monstrous zit on your forehead is the worst feeling ever. You need a quick fix that will get rid of that huge pimple, but you’re not sure where to get it or how expensive it will be. Fortunately, there are plenty of natural remedies, tricks and easy-to-find products that will nix your acne without spending a ton.

Prevent breakouts with a clean pillowcase

It may seem simple, but washing your pillowcase at least once a week can do wonders for your skin. Why? You lay your head on your pillow for hours each night, so there's no doubt a lot of dirt, oil and bacteria on it. This rub-off will rub back into your skin and can cause horrible acne if you don't switch out your case or wash it often enough.

Draw out impurities with steam

Sick of those blackheads? Try using steam to open up your pores and flush out impurities on your face. First, boil a pot of water. Then, pour it into another bowl and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Hold your face about 6 inches from the bowl and let the steam work its magic.

Reduce redness with aloe

Aloe is incredibly useful—not only can it moisturize and cool your skin after sunburn, but it also helps to reduce redness and swelling caused by acne. Try lightly washing your face and applying aloe to your skin before you go to bed to wake up feeling fresh and clear.

Nix oil with egg whites

For those of you with oily skin, egg whites are the remedy you need. Dap the egg whites onto your problem areas and allow it to dry. When it is completely dry, peel the egg whites off your face and rinse thoroughly. The egg whites will help draw out the oil that cause nasty breakouts.

Get glowy with lemon juice

Lemon juice is rich in Vitamin C and helps to exfoliate the skin. Wipe it across your pimples with a cotton ball and leave it overnight. This will help dry out the acne *and* give your skin a healthy glow.

Treat with toothpaste

Toothpaste is a great fix for any major zit. It quickly dries out your skin and slowly reduces the size of  your pimple. Place a small amount of non-colored, mint toothpaste to your pimple, let it dry and watch your zit reduce in size.

Have you tried any of these tricks to get rid of your acne? Which one works for you?
