Your Bod

You asked, we answered: Why do I hate eating?

You asked: I hate eating food, even a little bit and even when I feel hungry. What's wrong with me?

We answered: It sounds like you are experiencing something that is very common among young women. A lot of girls unfortunately participate in some form of disordered eating, such as dieting and it helps to seek out the best kind of support for yourself. You have to ask yourself some important questions about your feelings and actions.

Are you having negative thoughts about your body? You may need a friend or adult to lean on and discuss your insecurities. Talking will help you feel better about what is going on in your mind.

Is there a medical explanation for how you are feeling and are there other symptoms? Rule out any other causes by writing down all of your feelings and symptoms. If you are experiencing other symptoms such as nausea, you might want to schedule a doctors appointment to make sure everything is okay.

Are you resorting to excessive methods to relieve the stress of eating (ex. starvation, throwing up or binging)? If you are turning to these methods, you may have an eating disorder and should seek immediate help. There are many resources that you can find online or in person to help you through. Talk to an adult you trust about how you are feeling and they can help you get the support you need.
