Unhealthy earful

Can listening to music too loud really damage your ears?

Yes! Too-loud tunes can wreck your hearing. When it's cranked up – in your earphones, on your stereo or at your fave show  – music can cause temporary hearing loss. Your ears might ring for 15 minutes or two days, and then go back to normal. But if you're exposed to loud music on a regular basis, it erodes your hearing…permanently. In fact, 15 percent of kids 3 to 19 may already have hearing loss, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Turn it down – saving your hearing rocks.
