5 Easy Ways to Make a Better-for-You Breakfast

We know: the last thing you wanna do early in the a.m. is spend a ton of time thinking about what to eat. No worries. We’ve taken all the drama outta making bfast healthy. We’ve got 5 crazy-easy tricks to give your morning a boost, without grabbing a Pop Tart.

Drink water and eat a piece of fruit, instead of juice.
It might seem weird to sip H20 when ya get up, but it instantly hydrates your body after a night of zzz’s. You’ll miss all the sugar in the juice and, instead, get a healthy dose of fiber from the fruit.

Forget oatmeal packets.
These seemingly healthy treats are loaded with a ton of sweet stuff (plus, who is full after just one?). Instead, take an extra minute to zap a bowl of steel-cut oats. Then, top it with nuts, fruit and drizzle of maple syrup (if ya even need it).

Eat those egg yolks.
A while back, egg yolks got a bad rap. People started tossing them in favor of the whites. Turns out, these golden goodies are loaded with essential, hard-to-find nutrients. Keep them on your plate and, instead, add a bunch of veggies to the mix. Yum.

Ditch buttered toast.
It may be tasty, but white bread doused in butter just isn’t good for ya. Instead, opt for whole-wheat toast and slap on some yummy almond butter and banana for a shot of protein.

Pass by oversized pastries.
Café-style muffins have an enormous amount of calories (some have as many of 600, which like eating 5 plain donuts), and basically zero nutritional value. If you need a sweet bite on the weekend, make your own muffins at home. They’ll be much smaller and you can add whole wheat flour, fruit and nuts. Of course, plain yogurt and some fruit is a much better pick, but sometimes a girl needs a treat.
