Tough Stuff

Tay's lyrics are the perfect cure for dealing with mean girls

Taylor Swift knows better than anyone that girls can be mean, and some friendships just aren’t meant to be. So she has done what any great popstar would do and wrote plenty of songs about it. If you’re having a tough time dealing with your own “Bad Blood”—or just want to listen to some catchy music—give these tunes a listen and keep your ears open for some serious song lyric wisdom.

1. “Now we got problems and I don’t think we can solve ‘em.”

This TSwift line describes perfectly how it feels when a friend is untrue to you. While the song comes with a star studded music video and a catchy chorus, the message is that even if someone is keeping the “Bad Blood” alive, the only thing you can do is move on. Afterall, band-aids don’t fix bullet holes.

2. “Someday I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me, and all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Why you gotta be so mean?”

The simple lyrics of this song are actually telling a lot: Sometimes, all someone can be is mean. But just because someone else thinks you're small, it doesn't mean you have to be. You just keep being your incredible self and they'll stay, well, mean. Tay's been bullied in the past, but she’s one of the biggest popstars in the world now. Keep that in mind the next time a mean girl disses you.

3. “Haters gonna hate and the fakers gonna fake.”

There's not much to say here other than this is too real. There will always be haters and people who are fake, and there's not much you can do. See them for what they are, but keep living your life.

4. “I’ll be strong, I’ll be wrong. Oh but life goes on.”

This is the perfect thing to remember when dealing with a mean girl. You just have to be strong. Throughout your life, there will be times you make mistakes, but despite the dumb drama, you’ll live.

5. “Shake it off.”

This might be the most important lyric on this list. Always remember to just shake it off. No matter whether it's something someone said, an error you made or anything else getting you down, remember that it’s okay to just let it go.
