My bestie is super religious...but I'm not
Dear Frustrating Friendship,
When one person wants to talk nonstop about religion or politics or money or her vacation or new puppy, it’s understandable that the other person wants to change the channel—or get out the remote and press Mute. In this case, maybe you can say, “Look, we’re never going to change each others’ minds, so let’s agree to disagree. I’m tired of talking about it.” If she can’t let go, you may have to let her go. I’m all for having friends with different beliefs and points of view, but it sounds like she doesn’t want a respectful back-and-forth conversation, she wants to convert you. And that’s proselytizing, not friendship.
