How to survive a fight with your sib

Arguments with your sibs are common in every family. You're with them *all* the time and it can be tough to not snap at your little bro when you've had a stressful day at school or you had to skip out on ice cream with your friends to pick up your sis. No matter what you're clashing over, we've got a few tips for resolving fights with your siblings.

Try to see where they're coming from.

There are two sides to every story. Understanding both sides is the only way to truly resolve an argument. Humble yourself a bit and ask your sibling if there's anything you did wrong or if there's something you do that hurts your sib's feelings. Nobody is perfect but you can improve by asking your siblings to help you be a better sister.

Explain what's making you upset.

A lot of arguments stem from misunderstandings. Make sure your sib knows why you're upset and vice versa. Chances are they'll listen to what you have to say if you're respectful of their feelings. Let 'em know you care about your relationship with them and you don't want to be fighting anymore. Meet somewhere in the middle and compromise so both opinions are respected and no one feels inferior.

Reason with them.

Yelling at your sibling isn't going to make them want to listen to you. Rationally discuss the issue and think through whether or not your actions are reasonable. It's tough to see if you're making a good decision when you're angry. Taking time to calm down will give both of you a chance to think over what the problem is and come up with a rational solution.

Remember: at the end of the day, you're a family.

Siblings can *really* get on your nerves sometimes, but that isn't because they don't love you! Living with someone means you have to deal with all of their habits, good and bad. Keep in mind that they're your family and they'll always love and support you, no matter how bad a fight gets.
